What are the experiences of changing rooms within the same resort, but more importantly changing resorts?

Specifically how is moving between OKW and BWV without a car? Is there help from the resort? Do you have to use the bus system?

I could imagine changing rooms/resorts to manage your points, but if it is a big hassle not wanting to.

even though I have never done it with DVC. I have read other people's posts saying that the resorts will move your luggage from one Disney Resort to another. The difficulty is that 4:00 check-in time. If you change resorts, you will have to deal with this TWICE - once at the initial check-in and then again when you change to your second resort. This means that on the day you change resorts you will have no room that you can go to after 11:00 at the first resort or before 4:00 at the second resort. This usually doesn't present too much of a problem, because most of us are out at the parks during that time period.

HI,
We have moved from BWV to OKW. BWV would have moved our luggage for us while we went to the parks, but we decided to take a cab and bring our luggage with us. The cab cost $5.00.

Our original plan was to let the luggage be sent over, and then take the bus from the parks, but we got impatient to finish moving.

We also wanted to be at OKW when our DD,DSiLand 2 DGkids
arrived.
It was very easy!
June.

We just got back yesterday from a 12 day trip. Stayed the first couple of days at AKL, then 6 days at the Boardwalk, and finally 4 days at OKW - the whole trip without a car. Disney moved our luggage on both occasions, and i'm pleased to say the whole operation was incredibly smooth. Just call bell services and let them know you'll be switching resorts - give them a little notice if possible.

We checked out of both AKL and Boardwalk at around 10am and went to the parks for a few hours. On the 1st move we got to Boardwalk around 2.30pm, found our room was ready but the luggage wasn't there yet, but by the time we made it to the room bell services had called up to say it was. By 3pm we had our room and bags!

2nd time when checking in to OKW we got there around 3.30pm, our bags were waiting for us, and we were settled in by around 4pm.

We were unsure beforehand about getting a car for this kind of vacation, but the money we saved by not renting paid for tiffany drop-off and pick-up, plus the two nights at AKL.

Hope this helps.

We have changed resorts numerous times and Disney does make it very easy for you. They will even refrigerate pershibles if you have any. We always check into the second resort as early as possible and then either go to a park or go to the new resorts pool, have lunch etc and then around 3:00 call the front desk and see if our room is ready. Sometimes we have gotten lucky and our villa was ready at 11:00 AM but these times were the exceptions not the rule. We have changed resorts both with and without a car, if you do not have a car just make sure you have whatever you need for the day before luggage services takes your luggage because you most likely will not see it again until mid afternoon.

We have changed resorts millions of times and had no problem whatsoever. The day you are checking out of your first resort, call Bell Services, have them get your luggage and tell them what new resort you're moving to. When you're done with your day at the park or whatever, go to your new resort and check in. We've never found it to be a huge hassle, and the luggage is usually brought to the room oin the new resort within 15 minutes or so.

We've moved from resort to resort a bunch of times. Never had a problem. Usually what we do is let bell svcs. know that we're moving, you tell them which resort and they move your luggage over there for you. Usually after 1PM. In the meantime we'll go to the parks and by the time we get back to the new resort that we're checking into our luggage will be there and they bring it up to your new room. Also they will store all of your groceries for you, even if certain items are "open" like milk etc. they'll refrigerate it for you. They've even refrigerated flowers that were sent to us. They are so wonderful at Disney that they do as much as they can to make your resort switch easy.

We are moving twice on this next vacation, including some food items--I think we'll get a cab, since I don't want to tip Bell services 2 or 3 x at each resort! Plus our first Poly day is a resort day and I want my stuff asap.
