After my stay in the first resort and moving to the second resort can I take my own luggage to the second resort? If my first stay is at Poly and am moving to GF can I just hop on the monrail with my stuff. I will just have a carryon and a backpack? TIA

You cannot take luggage on Disney transportation. A backpack would be fine but carryon luggage 🧳 would be highly subject to scrutiny, depending on the size. A small bag that fits under an airline seat probably would be okay. A larger bag would not. Also, keep in mind that monorail stations have their own security check points and it's possible that you will be stopped to have your bags searched.

Just walk over.
Don't attempt taking anything that looks like luggage onto the monorail. It won't be permitted. A big shopping totebag and small park-going backpack, fine. A wheeled carryon suitcase, no way.

Walking over is definitely the simplest solution.

It's a mere 10-15 minute walk depending how fast you can walk.

I learn something new just about every time I come on these boards. Today's lesson is no luggage on the monorail or Disney transport. Of course it makes sense, but I had just never heard or read it articulated. And clearly never had a reason to try myself. Chalk that one up to another bullet point of knowledge I now have. :)

The knowledge on this board is second to none. All you have to do is ask. not only do you get the answer you are looking for but much more. I am so glad to be part of this community.Thank You

Just be prepared for a few strange looks! I had a few when I walked from BWV over to BCV with my suitcase during moving day of my split stay several years ago.
But I agree-easiest to just walk.

I did this same exact thing.
I was staying at the Poly solo and then met my mom at the GFVs for the start of our week-long trip.
I took my full sized hard sided luggage and went on the boat (which I don't think is running right now).
It was easy but if I was to do again, I would walk. This was before the walking path was completed.

I'm somewhat surprised you were able to board the boat as luggage is supposedly not allowed on any Disney transportation.

Boats were running as usual when we were at WDW in November.

Really love that there's now a large boat that can take ECVs on the MK-GF-Poly route.

Why don’t you get bell services to take your luggage over? It’s easy to arrange.

Yes, it was about 3-4 years ago. It was a smaller boat but I rolled my hard sided suitcase right on and sat
down. My tiara actually fell in the water once I sat, wasn't so magical LOL

Such an easy walk. You will be pleasantly surprised how close the two resorts are.

Which makes me wonder exactly what people will do once the train to Disney Springs is complete. Take the train there and then get a ride share since luggage is not allowed on Disney busses?

First, let's hope the train becomes a reality, then I would hope Disney will have a plan in affect (with a cost of course) to transport guests from DS to all of the resorts. Although with the current management in place I have my doubts.
