Moving a direct booking to Dreams retrospectively?

I have a 3 night cruise booked on the Dream in October, I used DU for a quote for an Alaskan cruise a few months ago, and asked (on the back of advice from a friend) about transferring our October reservation to them (booked direct) the agent told me there wasn't much point and I may lose my deposit.

Is it worth me pursuing this do you think? From reading posts on here, it sounds like it is worth it, I'm not sure why I was advised not to, would I lose my deposit or risk losing the stateroom?

Also we're now on a UK staycation cruise just 2 weeks before our Dream cruise (assuming we can fly to the US from the UK by then of course!), I've also read about people moving already booked cruises whilst on board to benefit from the 10% discount, or would we be too late to do that as will have paid the full balance by then?

Thank you

Someone here will correct me if I'm wrong, but I thing you need to transfer within 30 days of making the reservation. Otherwise, you would need to cancel yor existing cruise and rebook with Dreams. I don't think I would see any great advantage in doing it at this point

Ahh makes sense, thank you.

You are not wrong. The transfer needs to occur within 30 days of the original booking.

It is fairly easy to transfer a booking within the 30 days. I transferred one to Costco. Just had to fill out a form and get it to Costco, and they moved a booking to them.

You can reshop an already booked cruise for the 10% discount while onboard a disney cruise. You have to cancel and rebook, which could be more than the 10% you would save by doing so.
