We had originally booked for this august but we decided after a few calculations to change our plans and go to japan instead. I have a ptr on the tokyo boards if anyone is interested.

Anyway going off topic slightly there but does anyone know if they will let me move this years booking to next year or will I have to forfeit the deposit and cancel and rebook to take advantage of free dining?

Hi,

Your best to check with who you have booked through.

I am booked with VH and have read that their terms & conditions for changing the departure date is classed as a cancellation and will involve losing deposit and having to rebook.

We have changed our dates over the years and just paid an amendment fee pp - with the same company of course.

We are booked direct with WDTC. I called them re changing dates and they said we will have to cancel our original booking and rebook forfeiting the deposit. He also quoted me £200 more than the online cost!!!!

Oh no! :(

What are you going to do?

Funny, had a look at VH terms on this again. If you change departure date outside of the 12 weeks of when you are meant to depart, they will charge an admin fee of £35pp, and secure your new booking with new deposits. Your original deposits and booking will then be cancelled & lost.

But they will give a discount on the new booking to the value of the original deposits paid.

I'm not sure. We booked Japan back in October and I always planned to try to switch our dates once free dining was released for next year. I just assumed it would be possible with no amendment fee as it is more expensive but it looks like that's not the case. With the cashback I got through Quidco I am not effectively losing the full £200 but I may try and see if I get a different answer from another CM.....

I was going to suggest a cancel and rebook online with Quidco cashback to offset the loss but you're two steps ahead of me :)

I'd do that too - call again and see if you get a different answer. Sometimes it takes more than 2 calls .....!

That's what I was thinking too...! :thumbsup2

Persistence has paid off! I spoke to a lovely CM today who allowed me to move my booking. I am still cancelling and rebooking but have paid a £50 amendment fee (despite the cost going up) but my deposit for this year will be transferred to next year's holiday. We are now staying at the Beach Club which I am so excited about. Ever since our first trip I have envied the Epcot resort guests and now I'm going to be one of them! :cool1:

Thanks for the feedback. I can see why you are pleased. The Epcot resorts are gorgeous!

Just goes to show. Different CM, different outcome. Well done :thumbsup2

Thanks

On another note if anyone is looking for a 1BR at OKW for 2 weeks starting 16 Aug this year keep an eye out over the next couple of days when our booking will be released and become available :)

It's along way off but we have a very exciting trip coming up in the meantime. The more I'm looking at the beach club the more excited I am getting :cool1:

Well my second ticker is pretty much the same. And the current one started out about the same way as these did. It rolls around before you know it :)

That's so true! We booked about 9 months ago and these part of me that's disappointed it's coming round so quick, we've done WDW 3 years in a row so I doubt we will be going next year :( I hate having no WDW trips to look forward to lol!!

Well done on getting ur deposit back. We rang twice and emailed and was still told no way hozay even after explaining DB sister had booked her wedding whilst we were away . Feel like complaining as just wanted to move it to may next year from dec this. Glad u managed to sort it out. We booked with WDW direct

Pleased you have had a better outcome! Amazing what speaking with a different CM can do! :rotfl:

Well done on getting your booking changed. We were in a similar position- we had booked for this October and due to a job change we realised it wasn't going to happen for us this year. We wanted to change it to either May of August next year. When we called 6 weeks ago we were told no you will loose your £200 deposit and will have to pay again when you re book. We took time to digest it (also was too sad to rush into cancelling it;) and finally bit the bullet and sent an email last weekend. Well it seems a new policy has come into place. We have been charged £50 for amendment of booking but they have credited our account with £150. When we are ready to rebook its going to be sat there waiting for us:cool1: the cm actually states that it's changed so perhaps not all cms are up to date yet:confused3
Just need to decide if after only ever travelling sep/oct time we can face the last 2 weeks of august:goodvibes

The credit isn't showing on our account yet but I assume it will take a couple of days. We have been the last 2 weeks in august twice now and have booked for august again next year. Yes it's hot but there are plenty of things you can do to cool down. We were there for a tropical storm one year where it rained heavily for4 days straight. On TV they said it was the worst rain for20 years because it hit land and just didn't want to move but it hasn't put us off at all.
