We leave in 45 days for California! We are trying to
Get a list of movies to watch that we can watch with our girls (10 & 11) that typify Hollywood & California in a fun & goofy way. Currently we have Gidget, Bowfinger, Encino Man, and Fletch.

We're open to ideas!!!

It's kinda tough to think about what movies about/set in California are appropriate. Some of my first thoughts were Beverly Hills Cop and Ford Fairlane, but after thinking about it for a second and looking them up on IMDB, they're rated R. I'm a sucker for 80s/early 90s movies. But here is a list I came up with for movies that I love (or in the case of BFL, that my kids loved) set in California. You might want to screen them as a few are PG-13, it just depends on what your preferences are for what your kids see.

Grease
The Maltese Falcon (San Francisco)
Big Fat Liar
Escape to Witch Mountain
Angels in the Outfield
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
The Muppet Movie (going to Hollywood)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Nancy Drew
The Karate Kid (the original one)
It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (also going to California)
Hocus Pocus
Bewitched
The Bad News Bears

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is another one that could be added to the list. Very old school Hollywood-esque (at least IMO) and it gets you excited for DL!!

These are perfect. We had Roger Rabbit on our list for the Disneyland aspect, but hadn't thought of its old school thought process. Especially if paired with the Maltese Falcon. And Clueless is a great one for girls to watch. Thanks!

Another one that I thought of along the same lines as Roger Rabbit is The Rocketeer. 1930s old-Hollywood Disney movie and the music is played during the queue for Soarin'.

Another vote for WFRR. I believe you'll see a lot of that style of architecture when Buena Vista Street opens. Plus it prepares you for Toontown in DL.
