Hi all,

Something I've never understod is why there is no pay-per-view disney movies in the disney hotels. I'd happily pay a few pounds to see my fav. disney film the night before a magical day in the park!

I think they would make a few quid if they did it as well....

Maybe one day!

I agree, it is odd :confused3 I remember visiting back in '93 and there was just Fantasia and The Little Mermaid (in French) on an endless loop. And I'm fairly certain it was the same when we returned in '95!!!

I dont even know why Disney wouldnt provide a Disney film channel for free....surely it would raise peoples spirits even more :confused3

i definitely agree!
altho, with the disney channel, sometimes if ur lucky they play a film. however im not sure if they still do now that theres cinemagic channel (which they dont have in the hotels)
its a shame, like u said i would be more than happy to pay a few euros to watch beauty and the beast or peter pan the night before we go in the park!
very strange

You mean, you found time to actually put the telly on???

No chance-I'm always too busy living it!:yay:

I've already been to DLP twice and going again soon. We love lazing around in the hotel. We take a portable DVD player and some films and just relax in the hotel.
Althrough the hotels are behind the times a bit, no internet access either (althrough i think the other half prefers that rather than the laptop being turned on ;) ).

well yer, i do find the time to watch it. mainly wen its the end of the night, we've been to disney village, had dinner, wandered around the shops, and come back to flop into bed. its nice to flick thru the disneyland channels and get excited about the next day!

tigerlil, agree 100%!:thumbsup2

BTW - how did you find the New York hotel? Weve always stayed in the SL. Thinking about New York next time....

i ADORED new york!! i usually stay in cheyenne, and once in SL (lovely!) but new york was just wonderful. the staff were brilliant, the bar/cafe area is a really nice place to flop down after a long day in the park. i found the rooms really airy and spacious which was really refreshing. my boyfriend and i went two christmasses ago :santa: and the atmosphere was fantastic, particularly with the christmas tree and ice skating rink outside.
as you can see, i would definitely recommend it!:cheer2:

Yes we always find the time to enjoy the hotels. But we are never going during the summer. When we are going the park closes at 7 or 8pm and then you have enough time after dinner and shopping to spend some time in your hotel.
If you will be around here a little bite longer you will find two groups of DISers. 1. They always choose a cheep hotel (mostly outside the resort) because they only use their room to sleep and to shower.
And then there is the 2nd group. These people like to pay a little bit more and for them it is important to stay onsite and they return to their hotel during the day to relax and to soak up the atmosphere and they like to spend some hours in the evening in their room. ;)

I belong to the 2nd group and for me it means "living it"! :thumbsup2

Spot on!! thats what we tend to do.

A portable dvd player is a good item to take along....we try and nab a few dvds on the cheap too at duty free before getting on the tunnel.

I remember the first time we went, we managed to see the rescuers and the lion king movies while in the room.........nowadays i think your lucky if the play something like the recess movies or the cheetah girls (i think thats what there called??) thats all we had last time anyways.

dont forget, theres always......AMERICAN DRAGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN! :rotfl2:

the missus will know what thats all about!!:rotfl:

aha! i guess i haven't been enough times yet to stop and relax!! Still in the stage of motoring around like a 5 year old dragging OH in tow when i go!!! usually yelling quick this way and something about there is so much to see!!!

We usually need a holiday to recover when we get back..

however that will all change when we get our first ever APs next year..whoo! maybe i can get to see what the pool at the Sequoia actually looks like!!!

Never had more than 3 nights there but all that'll change! we have talked of staying outside the park but don't think that would be half as fun!!!! (money pending obviously)

Some of the hotels have WIFI internet access, the SL on certain floors & the HNY apparently its available in all of there rooms.

October will be our 9th time and we intend to spend as much ime in our hotel room as every other trip - to sleep and shower only! We stayed in the bridal suite of the Sequoia Lodge in December 2003 and still never spent any more time in the room than to sleep and shower! In non Summer months we still don't get back to the room until gone midnight - eating, shopping, walking and watching The Thrifts in the Red Garter Saloon - too much to do! Maybe when we get older or have kids things will change!? We couldn'et stay off-site though - even with how little we use the room we love The Cheyenne - the theming is top notch, the bar and it's house band are our favourite on the resort.

As for the showing of films, as much as I love DLRP, Disney is a business and one of the most exploitative ones around - when they sell the films in the shopsaround the resort I don't expect to see them shown for free in the rooms too. Can't imagine we'll be seeing Cinemagic in our hotel rooms any time soon. Even PPV would mean offering the films far cheaper than they are available for in the shops. I'd expect there to be a large number of people who buy Disney DVDs after being to DLRP, maybe prompted by one of the shows, meeting characters or a ride - to show them free or at a reduced price would reduce the number of 'positive experience induced' DVD purchases and that means less profit!

The TV channels was the worst thing about our stays at the DLH, the only channel in English was BBC world(boring), no Disney channel in English at all which was a big disappointment.

At the HNY we had the Disney Channel in English which was great at night as we were back at the hotel by 6.30pm, (DD tired and cold). we have not stayed at the HNY since 2005 so I don't know if it still has the English Disney channel.

All the rooms should have the disney channel in english, at least they have whenever we have been. You get eurosport aswell which is mostly in english.

Well, we've gone in January each time (and will be again) and there isnt as much to do after dark in disney. There’s Buffalo Bills and the restaurants obviously but not much else. Don't get me wrong, im not complaining, I love going at that time of the year as its something to look forward to after Christmas and its like we get the park to ourselves!

It is a good point but paying a few pounds to watch a one-off film, I doubt would hamper the DVD sales. Also, as you said, Disney is a business and I honestly think they could make so much money with PPV films in the rooms!

Thanks,
Aaron

Not at the DLH, They was no English Disney channel in any of our rooms at the DLH.

We were thinking of staying there next year but maybe not… don’t get me wrong I don’t really love the Disney channel (too much of these ‘series’) but a part of me would miss Zack & Cody for some strange reason…..

Didn't I tell you that you will find 2 groups at the DIS board? ;) :lmao:
For me the hotel and the hotel room is part of the experience. I love to spend some time at the room and to feel "at home" in the resort.
And after 3 or 4 nights at the hotel I am very sad to leave the hotel because I felt like home for 4 days. :grouphug:

And by the way: We are German and you can only buy Disney DVD's in Engl. & French at the resort. And I don't understand why. :confused3
