I'm interested in seeing Nemo.. I'd like to take my 2 yo DS. I know he won't make it all the way through. How old is old enough for the movies?

He may be okay. If you go to a matinee (with lots of noisy kids) and are prepared to get up and leave if he gets too antsy (missing the rest of the movie yourself) I'd say go for it. My 3yo loved Nemo. She's been to a few movies. Her first movie was Lilo and Stitch. She was not quite 3 then, I think.

We just went today to see Finding Nemo. We took our DD who just turned 2. She seemed to enjoy the movie for the most part. She did start to get a little less interested towards the end though. After all, it is a long movie!

We took Connor on Saturday (he's 18 1/2 months). He really liked the first two-thirds, but then started getting tired of being in the theater. We'll probably wait till he's closer to three before trying again.

We took our son to see Nemo and he will be 3 in October. This was his first time in a movie theater, so I tried to prepare him by telling him it would be dark and loud and there would be a scary shark on the "big tv screen." I don't know if this did more harm than good because he told me before hand - "I'm not going then."

oh my - LOL

Well, we convinced him that it would be just a "little bit scary" like when we say "boo" and startle daddy and he agreed to try it. We also told him we could get up and leave if he didn't like it - that seemed to calm him down more than anything - just knowing that we weren't forcing him to stay.

He sat very well for about 2/3 of the film and then got fidigity. We stuck it out though (some more popcorn and a drink helped!) and he really liked the ending.

Of course, the when it was over he said "rewind it and let's watch it again, Momma!"

I think if you go, just be prepared to get up and leave if he doesn't like it. The really scary stuff is pretty early on, and if you make it through that, he might just surprise you and stay for the whole thing!

I think it depends on the kid, the movie, and the phases of the moon. ;) We saw Finding Nemo a few weeks ago, and my 3 year old watched the entire movie, but my 5 year old couldn't sit still. In her case, I think she was bored because there weren't many "girl" characters.

I agree with others who have said be prepared to leave. I've taken my kids to the movies since they were babies, and I've found it helps to sit towards the back where you can make a quick exit just in case. Also, sometimes walking around in the back of the theater where you won't disturb anyone can sometimes keep a young child happy enough to stay. Junk food is also usually a good inducement for my kids at the movies— it's stuff they don't usually get to have at home, so they're willing to be good in the movie to have some. Good luck!

My youngest is 5 and has been going to movies since she was about 2. She will sit through almost anything. Our secret is POPCORN!!! She loves is and as long as she has some she will be good. We have older kids so we see things like "Holes" and she even did okay in that, although she prefers animated stuff!!

I took my 2 year old the first weekend that Nemo came out. He sat through the entire movie and loved it.....and he doesn't sit through anything!!! He evens gets ready to leave a restaurant if he is finished eating whether the rest of us have finished or not. LOL. The next weekend my husband and I took him again and he sat through it again, this time yelling Nemo at the top of his lungs when Nemo was stung by the jellyfish. You just never know how they will act at this age, but the joy that came from watching him watch this movie was worth risking the possibility of having to get up and leave. Go for it. You might just be pleasantly surprised!!:D

Thought I'd update y'all on Connor's reaction to the movie. I posted above that he seemed to lose interest during the last third of the film; we stayed, but he didn't sit and watch in awe like he had for the first two-thirds. Anyway, I was left with the impression that he liked the movie, but that it wasn't really a "magical" experience for him -- no big deal considering they didn't charge us admission for him due to his age.

BUT...last night we stopped by the Disney Store after buying Connor's new shoes at Stride Rite, and when he saw the big stuffed Nemo dolls, he went nuts! He started yelling: "MENO!, MENO!" and when I pulled one down for him he just hugged it and walked around the store with it, he was just way too cute. Long story short, even at 18 months the movie seemed to make a big impression. My DW spent part of the movie holding Connor in the aisle because he wouldn't sit any more, but she told me last night it was worth it to see him with that stuffed animal.

Fizbam,

Our son did that when he was 12 mos. Rode Jtyi2. He didn't seem interested but then really responded to the Figment dolls after the ride.
