Movie Valentines Day - ok for DD12?

Have you seen this movie? I read some reviews it says partial nudity and some sexual matter. I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for my dd12? I'm leaning towards no but wondered if anyone who has actually seen it could say? Thanks

So you didn't think it was too sexual in nature? I'm just not sure and I'm not going with her.

Ya know what I think my real issue is it doesn't start till 7:45 and I just think that's too late for her to be going "out" at 12. She's gonna be upset but oh well she can go see a move during the day. Thanks anyway.

What's it rated? I wouldn't be too concerned about the time, she should be home by 10ish, don't you think?

It's pg13....and ya she'll be home around 10 but still I don't know I guess I'm old fashioned I think that's late for a little kid (she's actually 11..12 in may). But on the other hand I have no problem if she's over a friends house till that time. It's just something with being out in public I guess...ya know it's a friday night, I kinda think this is a date movie just not sure what she'll encounter at the theatre. Plus it's snowing again not sure on the weather, that's probably it, I always get stuck doing the pick up and I don't want to be out.

If you were talking about tonight, it's too late for my opinion. However, I saw it with my teenagers and there is no way I would let my 11 year daughter see it. Of course, I am somewhat of a fuddy-duddy but it was almost embarrassing at times watching it with my older kids.

I don't have any kids, but I didn't think the movie was that bad. I don't think I would have a problem allowing a 12 year old to see it.

This actually might be a good movie for your 12 year old to watch because it shows two different high school aged couples making the decision to wait to have sex until they are ready. There is a scene where one of the boys gets naked but you don't see anything, he is holding a guitar. It is comedic in nature and the couple do not end up doing anything sexual.

There aren't any sex scenes in the movie, only dialogue regarding sex, fidelity, etc. There is a character who is a phone sex operator but she really only speaks in innuendos, nothing graphic, and again it is for a comedic effect.

The film also shows other kinds of love like the love of family and friends. It also portrays a gay relationship in a way that I was very impressed with.

I thought it was a very cute movie and would have enjoyed it at twelve, but every young person is different. Maybe you could go see it first and then decide? Just remember...kids often understand more than we think we do.
