WOW - What a fabulous movie!

I agree....we saw it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

We saw it on Thanksgiving and thought it was great! Not a typical sports movie.

I saw it today.

It was a very inspirational movie. While it is a movie about a football player, the football part doesn't even start until about halfway into the movie. You don't have to know much about football to understand the movie. I do not watch football or understand it, but I was able to follow it just fine.

Sandra Bullock pulled a great performance, it certainly is not like what I'm used to seeing her in. There is talk of an Oscar Nomination, and she deserves it! All of the actors did a great job, and the little boy who played S.J. totally stole the show!

They did not just gloss over some of the bad stuff and show rosy one dimensional characters. I have not read the book, but the characters were definitely 3 dimensional and relatable. The pacing was excellent, it did not feel too long at all. My father said, "That's the first time I've sat through a movie without my attention wandering." It really does hold your attention the entire time.

I would not be surprised if this movie is nominated for several Oscars.

Excellant. Sandra Bullock will appeal to both the women and the men. I saw it with my aunt and my mother and we all enjoyed the film. And for the country fans Tim McGraw plays Bullocks husband. Go see it!

We went to see this on Thanksgiving, too. It was the best movie I've seen in years. I laughed and cried! Being Ole Miss fans added to the enjoyment of course-it was nice to see all the little touches (we drink out of Ole Miss cups, too, and most of dh's and ds12's clothes have Ole Miss emblems! Even our 6 month old has her own Ole Miss socks, clothes, and mobile!):goodvibes

I'm intrigued by your reviews b/c I was thinking this was one of those "Notebook" type sappy movies that was real contrived and not very substantial. My attitude was at least partly b/c Tim McGraw is in it.

It was interesting to read about the football player in this week's Sports Illustrated -- he skimmed the book and has no intentions of seeing the movie.

Just got back from seeing it. Thought it was fantastic!

My only one thing was I wanted a little bit more emotion during some parts. I felt like some of the more emotional scenes could have captured the intensity better.

That being said, I still loved it and would recommend it to anyone! Sandra Bullock is amazing! :thumbsup2

We saw the movie last weekend, and really enjoyed it. I would recommend anyone watch this one.

WOW - What a fabulous movie!

False thread topic!!!! You could have said all that in the title. I was looking forward to actually reading someone reviews and all you wrote was that it was fabulous.

OK, here you go.

We saw the movie last weekend and really enjoyed it. The next day I watched a movie review show that recommend you skip it. I was shocked, I loved the movie, how dare they. Once I heard the review, I saw where they were coming from.

Sandra Bullock is great. But, its all about her. She gets the great lines. The kid who the movie is about really just stands around reacting to her. We never know how he feels about living with a white upper-class family. What happened to the other black boy who went to the school with him to play ball. At her ladies lunch, she tells the women he changed them more than they changed him. What has he done to change them? Not many sports moments if you are looking for a sports movie.

OK, that was the bad. Like I said, we loved the movie, but if you are looking for something deep and probing, go see Precious!!

DH watched the games yesterday and said there were several kids who are playing for the pros this year who also had the same type of experience. I find that very interesting. Until this movie came out, I had never heard any story like this one. I hope to see more movies like this!

The reason the kid didn't say much is that he is a genuinely soft spoken guy. My father and I were talking about that. To me, it is harder to act when you don't have any lines, when all it is is your body language, and he pulled it off beautifully. This kid just did not have a lot to say, and it would have been dishonest to portray him differently. If you read any interviews with the real Michael Oher, you'll see that's how he is in real life. From what I've read, the movie really did stay true to the story.

This is not a sports movie, it is a human interest story of which sports happen to play a part. I do wish they had shown Sean I think it was (the other boy) instead of just abandoning him after the two kids get into the school. That was a weakness in the movie.

DD16 and I are going to the movies this afternoon and it was between this or Disney's A Christmas Carol (I know, a kids movie, lol) but after reading this thread I think we'll definitely go see The Blind Side.:thumbsup2

I loved this movie. I thought it was a great story that would appeal to women and men alike. Chick flick with football. I took my DS13 and his girlfriend and they both loved it too. I would definitely go see it again and probably buy the DVD and I'm not normally that way about movies.

I suggest Google.

Wonderful! Bring your tissues, though. Stay through the credits 'cause they show some pic's of the "real" Michael.

We also saw this over the holiday and loved it. Sandra Bullock was wonderful in it. I was pleasantly suprised because I didn't think I would like this movie.
