I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS SEEN THE IMPRESSIONS DE FRANCE FILM IN FRANCE? IS IT GOOD? WILL IT KEEP MY 2 YR OLD OCCUPIED? I DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME IN WORLD SHOWCASE SO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO SKIP AND WHAT IS MUST SEES. :smooth:

It is a good lil flick, but it hardly kept my 5 year old's interest...but it probably does depend on the child.

It's very much like a travel guide to France - the music is nice, and the videography is beautiful, not so sure how a 2 year old would feel about it. My DD9 enjoyed it, but she wants to travel the world, and loves to see and learn things like that!

If you're short on time in the WC, I'd suggest the boat ride in Mexico for sure and the Maelstrom in Norway. The movie in China is 360 degrees in the round and may be more interesting than France's for a 2y/o. France and Canada's movies are good, but can come later. If you can catch the singing groups' times in USA, they are very good to listen to. The department store in Japan has loads of toys and they are much more laid back than the clerks in France or Italy if you have kids that tend to get in a few things. Oh, the department store in China is wonderful as well--you'll walk into that as you exit the movie. :cool1:

Probably depends on the child. My DS4 has enjoyed it at every age. Some times he was more interested in the actual film than others, but the appeal of classical music, AC and a seat for 20 minutes were always welcomed by him!

I liked the film when I saw it last year, but my French traveling companion was very critical of it because it is outdated by several years. He complained to the staff member outside of the auditorium, who was also French, and she agreed that the film is in desparate need of an update. My take on it is that France was a beautiful country in the 1980s and it remains a beautiful country today.

I doubt that a two year old would enjoy the film.

Your 2 yr old won't be interested, but if ready for a nap, it might be a good place.

The China film requires standing, and they don't let children sit on the floor.

The chinese acrobats would be interensting perhaps.

At that age, letting them "discover" treasures like the fish in the stream in Japan and the railroad would probaby be more interesting than any of the attractions.

It's a great place for an adult to nap, too! Dark, cool, & soothing music! :thumbsup2

The movie is pretty good. Maybe one of these years they'll be able to afford the other screens they need to make it a 360 degree circlevision. :cool1:

They might need a few other things besides 8 more screens to accomplish this.

9 synchronized projectors.
An entirely new theater with "lean-rails" and no seats.
8-channel audio playback with speakers on the ceiling.

Oh yeah, and an entirely new FILM shot using a circle-vision camera-system.

Impressions is not a bad film at all. It has a great soundtrack, and it's a nice cool place to take a break while in World Showcase.

I really enjoy the film. It's my favorite in the World Showcase and have seen it maybe 6 times.

2 yr olds and travelogues.

Not so much.

Why are you yelling at us? :rotfl:

For a 2 year old, I agree that the boat rides in Mexico and Norway are probably the only things that will hold their attention, unless you happen upon some street performers (we saw some in France, and there used to be some in Italy and many of the pavilions have small bands that come out periodically to play). The 2 yr. old might like to watch the mini-train in Germany, too.

Beautiful film and music....I try to go every trip. It's 18 minutes long, and probably 17 minutes too long for a young child.

It's definitely probably difficult for an awake two year old to sit through. It is a great film, though!

As for the suggestions for the boat rides, I agree about the Mexico one, but I would be careful with the Norway ride (Maelstrom) with a two year old. My kid was so scared on that thing.

my Kids would have found Maelstrom {is a Fastpass???} really quite intense at age 2. In fact, I think they did, and then we had to feed them lots of sugar to get over the trolls, and then we had to go through a "no trolls! no trolls!" thing the next visit.

I was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice movie. It kept my almost three year old's attention. He kept saying "that's my new house" whenever they showed a castle.
