Well, moving day is finally here....well almost. Tomorrow morning the first batch of movers arrive to pack us for our transatlantic move. I am thoroughly exhausted with all of the preparations, I look forward to Saturday and finally relaxing! Cross your fingers that we don't have rain and that the temps don't reach into the mid to upper 90's like they are predicting since we don't have any AC. Thanks!

I haven't been around as much lately. I knew you were moving back to this side of the pond, but I never heard where you were moving to. Where are you going to be?

Just a few more days before you get to relax. :)

and welcome home.

Good luck with the move. I hope it goes smoothly!!:goodvibes
Also will pray for good weather!!
Take care

USA! USA! USA!!!

YAY! YAY! YAY!

So is your stuff being shipped on Matson by sea?
Watch those silly movers.. they pack everything is sight!
Have you heard the one about the packers that packed the trash can.. with the trash still in it?!! Or is that just a Marine Corps myth>!

Hi Joan! That isn't a myth, I have seen them pack many crazy things. On my last move they borrowed an ashtray (we are not smokers mind you) and when they were finished they wrapped the ashtray, butts and all!!! Eeeewwww!! Not sure who the carrier is that is shipping by sea, all I know is that when it leaves here it goes to the warehouse to be weighed and then it is put on a truck to Germany and then shipped out and two months from Thursday I should have my things back....I can't wait!

Thanks for all of the good wishes!

The german packers wrapped up my paper towels to be packed away. They really liked me, I had a ton of candy from a fasching(sp) parade and I let them have all of it.
That and drinks.

Congrats!! Hope it all goes smoothly!! ::yes::

Don't forget to PM me when you get here or before to let me know when you're coming!! Need any last minute info?

Or good friend is doing his pack this week to head your way....joining his wife in Naples...they're dual military, but their orders are a little out of sync. Express was yesterday, regular shipment today, and storage gets packed tomorrow. We're sure going to miss them :(

TWO MONTHS!!!???!!!!!!

What are you doing from the time they take your stuff to the time you get it back???? I mean, do you have to sleep and sit on the floor???

I may have asked this already but when do you "officially" arrive back in the states????

GOOD LUCK anyway!!!!! I'm sure it will all go fine.

Almost there! Good luck w/ everything. I see what I have to look forward to when we move in Dec., if we ever figure it all out! hehe.

I had another Navy wife friend who told me when the packers came, they packed everything.... Including a PBJ sandwich she had on a plate, which she later found when unpacking at their new place!:p

WOW! Good luck with your move! Sounds like everything is going smoothly:)

WOOHOO for Debbi! That much closer to coming home! Prayers for no rain, and cool temps. ;)

Now, take a deep breath, and relax! :teeth:

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Debbi! :Pinkbounc We'll have to "do lunch." :teeth: Was just in Virginia Beach a couple days ago. LOVE IT! :) I thought of the garbage in the garbage can being packed when I was getting ready in FL to move. I beat the movers to it and emptied it. :) However, I didn't think about the stuff in the dishwasher, and they took it out and packed it! :crazy2:

P.S. The hot weather is back! :)

I hope your move goes smoothly! Safe travels!!

The morning the movers came, I had a glass of juice and a plate with my breakfast on it. Later I went to wash it and couldn't find it, so I thought my mom must have washed it and they packed it. A month later, when I finally got around to one of the boxes, what did I find?? Yes, a glass with a bit of dried juice in the bottom and a plate with dried-out ketchup (from my hashbrowns) and bread crumbs (from my toast) on it!!!!!!

Katie, I will PM you, we will still be in the house another couple of weeks. Once the craziness settles down I will have more time to be on the computer. BTW, Heard from my friend in Tampa and he was wondering if you needed any more info. He said feel free to contact him as ofter as you need to.

Yup, two looong months! We will be in our house for an additional 15 days and the military overseas gives you loaner furniture, (ie. beds, table, couch....the bare basics). Then we move into a hotel for 10 days before we fly. Upon arriving in the US we are authorized another 10 days in a hotel (military expense), where as we will look for a place to live. After this we will go on leave and visit our families until our furniture arrives in August.

That would be great Sandy! maybe we can get Katie and some of the other area DISers together for a mini meet. :)

Thanks all for the good wishes.....I am so excited!!!!! :bounce:

Good luck! We've lived with loaner furniture for three months now - it's fun! ;) I'm dreading moving overseas, though - moving in CONUS is complicated enough!

And just wanted to add my packing story - I had coffee that morning, drank it, looked for the coffee pot to clean it... Yup, it was packed! While it was STILL WARM!!

Well that's not bad then. I was envisioning a huge campout in your house until you left and then another huge campout when you got to the states. That COULD be fun???!!!! :D

Good luck and if we ever get out there again I'll have to let you know so we can meet up. Now that my cousins have moved from there, my aunt is gone and it's just my uncle, I don't know when the next time will be that we will be out.

And DG -

EEEEWWWWWW!!!!
