We have used the dining paln in the past and have loved it. For us it works. Has anyone used the Deluxe Dining plan and if so, is it worth the expense? Can you possibly eat that much? We usually get so busy it is tough to find time to eat, but my kids are growing and they eat more so I was thinking about DDP but it is almosttwice as much it seems for 1 more meal a day. Your thoughts?

I can't imagine eating that much food.

It's three meal credits a day. Each of those credits can be used for TS, and the plan is obviously priced assuming you'll do 3 TS. If you do two CS and one TS per day, you're really throwing money away.

On the previous DDP, people used to complain it provided too much food with one TS and one CS per day!

If I were to use it, I'd do a TS breakfast or early lunch and a signature (2 credit) dinner. But it's priced too high for me even to do that - I don't think I'd eat signature every freakin night.

We are going to try the deluxe ddp this upcoming trip. it's just me and dh, so I think we may just get our money's worth. He's a big eater, and while I'm no slacker, I can definitely enjoy sit down meals (yes for every meal while on vacation) without packing myself. I look forward to trying places we've never eaten - like Coral Reef and Brown Derby (I think BD is a 2 ts meal).

Since it's just me and dh, we will be able to take the time to sit and relax for our meals - CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS TRIP!

We did the Deluxe plan when we were there the 20th-27th for 3 adults. We felt we got more than our money's worth doing it. We made a point of keeping all the receipts and tracked it all in a spreadsheet. At the end of the week we figured that OOP we would have paid $1200 more for the same stuff. Granted, if we had paid OOP for the same week, we probably would have eaten a little differently. For example, we would not have ordered 3 appetizers at each meal. But it was fun to do so, because with had more things to try.

We are going back again in July and are definitely getting the Deluxe package again. I have already planned it out so we can do our ADRs. The only change is to add a few more 2 TS meals.

We are going with the DDP also, We did the math and it is cost effective if you go to signature dinners. We plan on having a TS lunch and signature dinners, We are going to use snaks for breakfast, and the endless mugs for lots of coffee!!

Our last trip we did the DP and it paid for itself very quickly.
See you all at the World!

Okay, we finally made our decision. We are going deluxe for all 4 nights (I have two separate ressies AKV/BWV) so I could have done basic/deluxe - one on each ressie. But we decided to go for it and see how it works out.
Being a mom that cooks alot, eating three meals a day at a sit down table service meal, not having to cook it or do the dishes is worth it right there to me! :goodvibes

These are our ADR's (I got every single one I asked for!) If there is something on here any of you would absolutely NOT do, please let me know - TIA.

Sunday April 20th - arrival day - won't be there for breakfast:

Tusker House Buffet - lunch AK Park 3:00 P.M.
Jiko - dinner AKL 8:30 p.m. (two TS credits)

Monday April 21st

Spoodles for breakfast - didn't make ressie yet
Beirgarten - lunch - Epcot 2:40 p.m.
Coral Reef - dinner - Epcot 8:40 p.m.

Tuesday April 22nd - non park day

Ohana Character Breakfast @ Poly 9:40 a.m.
Whispering Canyon Cafe @ WL 2:20 p.m.
Kona Cafe @ Poly 7:10 p.m.

Wednesday April 23rd

50's Prime Time Cafe (or Big River Grille) 2:00 p.m.
Le Cellier in Epcot (SAVING BEST FOR LAST :yay: ) 6:40 p.m.

On to HH......

We do the DDDP for the first two nights and eat on credits the third night after we move to the next resort. We use the DDDP for Signature restaurants to get the best value, and the best food. ;)

Does anyone know where I can find info on the two plans online. I tried Disney but there were no real details. My DVC page is down. I am not sure the info would be there if were up . Would appriciate any info. I want to know what is included on the table service and the difference between the two plans.:goodvibes

Can you access the Member website? On the main page, to the right under Plan My Vacation is a link to the Dining Plans that are available to DVC, including two downloadable pdf files with details and pricing for the standard and deluxe DDP.

Sure. Here's a link to the DIS DDP board 2008 DDP FAQ: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1545287

Read the very first post, and about halfway through that post, you'll see links to all of the official Disney DDP brochures.

The first post of the FAQ gives you just about everything you will need, and virtually every imaginable question has been answered thousands of times on the DDP board!

We are doing the Deluxe Dining Plan during our trip this June. We have my sister and her family joining us and are doing 4 of the Grand Gathering events. All but one of those is covered under the DP, only because they don't really serve a meal on the Magical Fireworks Voyage.

We also have several Character Meals and a few Signature Dining meals planned, along with a least 1 other TS meal each day. We made sure to maximize our TS credits since they have the Deluxe plan geared toward those. We tend to plan everything out and felt the DDP was a good option, since we can easily plan for the cost in advance. It offers enough flexibility that we were able to cover every meal during our week long stay.

Given the changes for 2008 I'm not sure how we will feel after the trip, but for now I'm withholding judgement on those changes until we get back.

On the other hand, if my calculations are correct, you just MIGHT be at Disney during Free Dining? The DDDP might be worth the $32 per person?

I am there during free dining. But I'm DVC and I'm staying on points. I'd rather use DDE than buy the plan with my DVC reservation.
