Last year I used Budget vs
Avis because I got the lowest rate. However we had a very sour beginning and end of our vacation. Very hard sell at the start to upgrade and for insurance. Was asked if I really wanted the ranger truck I booked or if I only rented it for the cheap rate. Yes it's what I wanted, very easy to load luggage. Then had to wait until one was ready, booked 6 months in advance, took about 30 minutes. When we picked up after cruise got a truck that was not cleaned and only half a tank of gas. Filled to the level before we returned the car to the airport, but they charged my husband for a full tank, around $20 for not returning a full tank, could not waste time arguing, had to catch flight. Was on the phone upon return and kept being told to call different numbers, E-mailed but never got reply. Finally decided to eat the $20, and never to use Budget again. The office at the port was the most helpful, and least rude in trying to fix the problem, they agreed that the gas was not full, but could do nothing because the charge had gone thru. Was told that they no longer had pumps on site to fill the tanks, and if the cars are being returned to the airport that is the way they go out.
