Move back a week and miss F&W or waitlist?

Help me decide, I'm really torn! DH and I always stay at BCV for our anniversary. This year it looks like we can take my parents with us (which I'm thrilled about since we've never taken our family before!) We've had a studio booked for Oct 1-8 since the 11 month window. However, when I called today to check on switching to a 2BR, the nights of the 3rd, 4th and 6th are not available. Neither are two studios. A 1BR is available with only 1 night missing, but since we're taking my parents for the first time I really wanted to wow them with the 2BR (this may be the only chance we get to take them with us since our vacation times usually conflict). Nothing at BWV either...

I asked about the week of Sept 24-Oct 1 and there's plenty of availability then, but we'd miss the F&W festival and MNSSHP. Ideally we'd book the 2BR for the 24th-1st and waitlist for the 1st-8th, but DH and my dad both work retail, and they have to set their vacations in stone in the next few weeks- grrrr.

So our options are this:

1. Move back a week and guarantee a stay at BCV, but miss the F&W festival and MNSSHP

2. Book the week we really want at OKW or SSR and hope the waitlist comes through, but take the chance that we may not get to stay at BCV where we've spent every anniversary (yup we're spoiled )

What would you do? I've never been waitlisted during F&W, and I have no idea what my chances are of the waitlist coming through.

You have another option - which you might not like, but I think would be what I would do. Keep your reservation as is and put your parents in a one bedroom at SSR or OKW. You can hook up each morning, have dinner together, spend time in the pool together, all that - just sleep at seperate resorts. (And on an anniversary trip, that might not be all bad).

Check the dates for the F&W and MNSSHP. I think both begin on Sept 30, so you maybe able to go with your earlier dates and attend one or both of these events! If you can stay thru the 2nd, this might give you enough time to do both. Good luck in what ever you decide. -- Suzanne

I didn't realize that there is a MNSSHP on the 30th (with the passholder discount even). And the F&W also starts that day so we would have at least 2 days of it too. I'm thinking we'll lean that direction that way we'll be sure!

crisi, we thought of that too, in fact my parents said that was fine with them, and we were going to do that until I found out the week prior was open.

Actually Starshine,

The earlier week sounds ideal. You get the 2bdroom, yu stay where you really want to and get to show mom & dad the fantastic "investment" you made,(laymans term: show off just a little). And on top of that yu have the beginning of the trip with very little crowds so you can really enjoy the resort and the parks, and get to end the week with two great parties.

If i was you i'd call and switch weeks Today!!

Thanks again everyone! I called today and reserved the 2BR at BCV for the week prior.
(I was afraid if I procrastinated too long it would be gone too!) I stayed on the waitlist for Oct 1st-8th though since DH and my dad still have a couple of weeks before they're forced to make a final decision.

It still counts as our anniversary even though it's the week before the actual date, right?

And I did save a few points Dan! I had to borrow though, so I'm now left with a grand total of 12 points in my 2006 UY. *sigh* Now I'll end up with add-on-itis!
