Lou dropped a good one on this weeks podcast: The STOL port near the MK could be the home to the next DVC resort. If you google satellite map it, the STOL port is the strip of concrete to the right of the speedway.

After looking at the map of it, I wondered if they put a DVC resort there if they'd possibly extend the monorail to include it and the Wilderness Lodge. Could work.

[Note: I scrolled through a couple pages and didn't see this rumor posted. If I missed it, my apologies, please merge.]

Where can I hear this podcast? itunes? what would I search for there?

That rumor has been around almost as long as the CR resort one, but not quite as long as the AKL one.

I talked to a DVC rep at one of the parks last Saturday (5/06). DVC won't even tell THEM anything for fear that announcing a new resort will leak, and slow sales at SSR. So, whatever is said at this point seems to be nothing but speculation.

No monorail expansion. But it is close enough where they can get creative with MK transportation.

If I were a bettin man, this is the first MK area DVC

So you're saying VWL is not in the MK area?

Not sure I buy this rumor. Apparently, this plot of land was handed over to imagineering to use as a base for a major construction project at the CR.

We will find out the truth soon enough.

I think it was used for storage for the refurbs at CR. It was pretty empty when we went past it last week. Well, other than a bunch of the PotC boats sitting on it. :)

For you doubters about the airport location...check this out. Diagram (plans) for the facility, and how they will reroute the roads. Note the new road to the right exclusively for Disney guests (no longer same entrance). Also, this will be a monorail DVC. Current monorail runs right by the property. Minimal changes.
Also will have its own boat system for rides the MK. Haven't got word yet on the theme. This is what they mean by "think big"!

Forgive my ignorance but is it very close to the speedway where you won't have any peace & tranquility laying out at the pool? I mean they are going to charge premium $/pt and the location might not be all that ideal. Can anyone help me understand if noise will be a factor??? My boys are nutty for the monorail so we (like everyone else ;) ) would love a monorail DVC. Also if they are doing this would they include monorail access for WL???

With all due respect, this "diagram" is a satellite photo with some colored-in areas, not any kind of official document.

Unless this resort was named "Richard Petty's Really Loud Racin' Resort", I'd think they'd have a lot of trouble with the noise....

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Exactly what I thought Dr.

This resort should be fun to sell. Close to the race track as aleady mentioned. We can call it RPV (Richard Petty Villas).

But the best part...

It will be a monorail DVC. Something we have all wanted. Mind you the monorail will not stop at the resort. But we can all watch the monorail whiz by overhead as we board the bus to either the MK or Epcot.

I found that photo before, and it gives a nice overview of the possiblities, but nothing official. What I take away from that image is that will be one LOOOOOOOOONG boat ride to the MK. :) It's at least as from there to the WL as it is from the WL to MK.

Speedway noise can be heard at the WL, so this new one would be a bit speedway noisier, I'd think. Then again, if anybody can figure out how to shield their resorts from the "outside world," it's the Walt Disney Company.

As for the monorail, when I first posted this I was looking at the satellite view on google maps or something, and my guess was they'd do a two for one and put the WL and this new resort on the existing resort loop. Stopping the Epcot express doesn't make much sense, even if it is just yards away. The downside with that is there would be a pretty sharp turn between the Richard Petty Villas (I like it :) ) and the TTC. Contemporary to WL isn't tough, and WL to RPV isn't tough, it's that last piece that looks to be the issue. Plus, the monorail is a pricey install...5 new busses would be way cheaper. :)

Look here it looks like the next resort will be a trailer park they are setting up already

They already have a trailer park as a DVC resort. It is called SSR. It is complete with trashy guests, inbred cousins and siblings and a watering hole. It also has tons of concrete parking lots and not much landscaping. It can all be yours for around $100/point. Oh yeah, that fireworks viewing are they tout in the Congress Park section, well the fireworks are no longer. Even when they were there, 5 minutes of fireworks doesn't warrant building a viewing area. Seems they were desperate.

And to think I had just defended you and your right to post here.....

Sigh.

Are you kidding? We have stayed there a half dozen times, and we thought the landscaping was no more or less then any other DVC resort. I don't believe we are inbred, at least not the last time I checked. Oh, and we paid $51 a point when we joined in 1991, and we can still use our points at SSR.....
