Does anyone know if you can use the Mousesavers code for onboard credit if you booked a cruise on points?

In past, DVC would allow the use of code when booking, but that is a thing of the past. DCL will not take any additional discounts or promotions for passengers who book with points.

You can still get Castaway Club benefits like the returning cruiser get-together and present. Just no monetary incentives.

Yeah, but it sure does stink. :( This is our second cruise on points--the first time we couldn't get the $50 first time cruiser credit, this time no Disney Club $50 credit either. Everyone else in our party is getting some sort of shipboard credit EXCEPT for us because we booked using points.

I know it was my choice to use points, but it really isn't fair to exclude DVC members booking on points from onboard credits.

I hear you Sue Ellen and wholeheartedly agree. I just wish they would at least give the same perks offered elsewhere - we aren't asking for more than that!

What really stinks is that we have a large group with 7 cabins booked for our upcoming cruise. Two of the cabins are being paid for with points. Our friend, who's cabin is booked on points, is really the one who put the cruise together and sent out flyer to friends to get them to book. Our cabin is booked on points and we got my MIL to book a cabin. Well two of the cash cabins got letters from DCL stating that they knew they were looking forward to their upcoming cruise and if they told their friends about the cruise and got them to book that both cabins would get $150 shipboard credit. Our friends who threw the whole thing together called DCL and asked about the credit as they had gotten 6 other families to book already. They were told that since they were booked with points and we were booked with points that we did not qualify but every other cabin would get the $150 credit and the cabin which received the letter would be given $450 credit since they were being given credit for all the other cabins.

If it weren't for the 2 families who were DVC members booking and advertising for the cruise, then none of the other families would have even given the cruise a second thought and what do we get for it? A nice well you are booked on points so you aren't eligible for anything!

You would think DVC member would be treated just as any other passenger instead of second class.

Now that does suck - I would send a letter of complaint to someone high up and see what comes from it. It's worth a shot.

I am new here, can someone explain the points you are taling about and how you get these 1st time cruiser discounts? Thanks

I think it only fair that the cabins that are getting the credit share the wealth with you and the one who put the cruise together....that's what I would do. Why not share the all shipboard credit equally with all the cabins??? I know it may take some figuring out but it would be the right thing to do on everyone else's part for all the work done in booking the trip.

I'm with you there! I put this cruise together for everyone and am the ONLY one not getting a credit. Fortunately we have worked out a "share the wealth" plan for the onboard credits. Now just to figure out how to get DCL to put the credits on the other rooms once we are onboard.

Well to be perfectly honest, my DH had no problem telling his Mom that half of her $150 credit belonged to us. I also have no doubt that my 2 DSs will hit her up for far more than $150 on the cruise. She is quite the generous grandmother.

It's really just the principle of the situation that makes me mad. What even mad me angrier was after I read my post, I remembered that we may have used points for myself and DH but we paid cash for the two kids. Couldn't they give us a $75 shipboard credit? Oh well, life goes on.

I'll still have a great time on the cruise. And, I still love DVC.

Thats not even right!

We booked three rooms while on board our 3/15 cruise for the 3/30/04 cruise. After returning home we added another room for my in laws who had just been on the cruise 7 days earlier. Dcl said no credit cause we didn't book it on board. Okay kind of over that. NOT

We are trying to talk my brother in law into booking a room. What kind of credits might he get if we talk him into booking? This would be his first cruise with dcl.

We were lucky enough to transfer everything over to Dreams and were able to get a dreams rebate but not the other dcl credit. Guess they won't let you combine credits anymore?:(

What if you put the deposit and paid for the cruise on the new Disney credit card? It says you are suppose to get a room credit. Will DCL let you have that or not?

As overpriced as dcl is becoming you would think they would want all the return cruisers to be happy.

sabaka - The "points" referred to are used by Disney Vacation Club members to "pay" for the cruise. There is a DVC forum that can give you more info on that. I'm new to the Cruise Forum myself. Sorry it took so long to answer!

You're welcome!:D I also forgot to mention that Mousesavers.com is a wonderful site for discount codes. Have you checked that out yet? By the way, welcome to the disboards. You have certainly come to the right place if you need answers to questions about Disney. Watch out though! It is verrrrrrrrrrrrrry addicting!:D I spend way more time here than I probably should!!!

Is this a random letter that DCL sends out? How far in advance of their sale date did they get it? Do they only do it for certain crusies? We have 3 cabins booked.. would that qualify - how do we find out about this potential credit???

I have no idea why some members of our party got the letter. I would have to assume that it is just random as not everyone got it. They got the letter about a month ago and we do not cruise until July 26.
