Mousekeeping tip?

I was planning on 5 a day as well. Hoping we get a few towel animals and interaction with the kids stuffed animals as well. Should we tip more for that? Or does it not matter. I thought 5 a day was a decent amount and like the PP's said if we leave a big mess we will tip more.

Honestly... I have been to disney like 5 times and never ever thought about tipping for room cleaning. I do tip good while eating out though.sometimes 30%-40% or more of the bill for excellent service.. I've thought about it and here's what I'm gonna do this may/june trip to disney... I've been collecting $2 bills from bank every time I go I ask for them..I will be there 10 days and give a $2 bill and a $1 coin each night... so $3 each night total.. it's just my daughter and I going so that should be good.

Last year, I was hoping to get some awesome towel animals, and the mousekeeping at Polynesian were hit and miss, at best. On our first day in the room, we had a turtle-towel, and we left $5 and note (addressed to Mousekeeper) sticking out of his "claw" (clearly visible on the countertop---right next to where they change out the cups) that said something like, "Crush really liked that he got to be the main surprise from mousekeeping, and hopes you have a great day!" Needless to say, it took two days before anyone took the money and gave us a new animal elephant. We did this all week and got four animals and three "dead days" where the tip was left. You could tell that some mousekeepers really care, and others didn't even pay close enough attention to the room to notice that they had a tip laying there in plain view. So I learned a lesson to leave the same amount of tip everyday vs. one large tip at the end. It would have been tragic had the don't-care-mousekeeper gotten the whole week's tips!

This was a fun way for us to tip the mousekeeper and encourage more animals. Plus, it really was a good way, IMHO, to tip "aware" mousekeepers and avoid the "don't care" ones. We did $5 per day.

We tip $5 per day. But I once left $100 tip at the beach club. My DH got a huge bonus that year, so we decided to treat our friends to a WDW vacation. Their children had never gone anywhere on vacation.

Lets just say the parents didn't "get Disney", but the kids loved it. So I took the kids to EMH at the MK, while my husband took the other adults to PI.

The next morning, I went to see if the other family was ready to check out, and was shocked at the state of the room! The dad had partied way too much, and did not make it to the bathroom. They had just thrown a towel over the mess in the floor.

I was shocked at my friends attitude. She told me "they have someone to clean it up!" and walked out of the room. I cleaned some of it up, but felt I was going to add to the mess!

So I left a "I am soooooo sorry note and $100. Then went to check out and tell the front desk about the mess in the other room, and tried to pay for any damage done.

I fully expected to get a charge on my credit card for the damage to the carpet, but never did.

I always fear that I have a note in the computer to watch out for us!
