I was just reading where the "mousekeeping" only comes every four days at the DVC's. My question is simple; if I need an extra towel or two or a fresh bar of soap, is there somewhere I can go myself and get these or am I stuck until day 4 or driving to a grocery store. Just wondering what the tricks of the trade as far as "mousekeeping" goes. Thanks.

You can get additional supplies for a fee by calling Housekeeping. There is also shampoos & soaps available in the resort gift shop.

Here is the rate schedule. BTW, it is not a full housekepeing every 4 days. If your stay is 8 nghts or less, you get Trash & Towel service on day 4...they replentish the soaps, take out the trash, and change out the towels. No vacuuming, fresh sheets, or general tidying up.

If your stay is 8 nights or longer, you get a full housekeeping on day 4 and Trash & Towel on day 8.

Pay As You Play
With Pay As You Play service, you'll be provided with the following amenities free of charge at the start of your stay. After that, you may purchase more for the following fees:

One-Bedroom - $45.00 per day requested

Thanks, so I'm assuming that most people bring the needed supplies with them but at least it's good to know you do have access to this stuff if you need it. I'm sure I'll get the hang of this. Thanks again for all the info.

It depends upon how many are in your party. For two adults, we don't need extra supplies, except laundry soap, coffee & filters, so we bring that. If you're in a 1 bedroom or larger unit, you will have a washer/dryer you can use for towels as needed. For studios, (again only 2 people) we have enough towels by letting them hang dry, as we have 4 towels, so we alternate every other day.

We bring shampoo - don't need extra soap. Hang up towels and don't wash them every day at home - so we do the same on vacation. (I know some people think this is ooky, but we are a clean towel across clean body leaves clean enough towel family). Bring coffee, filters, minor groceries, laundry detergent and dryer sheets (when in a one bedroom).

Please note that the day you check-in is considered day #1. You can also rearrange your mousekeeping schedule to a different day. We did this last year for a four-night stay at BCV.

if you have a a 1 or 2 BR, you can always wash a load of towels. But really, do you wash your towels at home every 3 days or less?

I always ask for extra soap. I want a bar in the kitchen for washing hands. When I travel with girlfriends, we each want our own soaps (DH and I are willing to trade germs ;) ). I have never been charged for bar soap, even though I know that I could be charged and may be charged in the future.

I guess it seems like a bigger deal when you first find out about it. You guys are right, I have to REALLY start to think of this as home away from home instead of staying at a hotel. Thanks again guys and I really appreciate your help.

4-7 nights you get Trash & Towel Service on day 4.
8+ nights you get, you get full cleaning on day 4, T&T on day 8, and repeat for longer stays.

T&T also does not include making the bed.

shhh, we have once taken 3 towels from the pool area. We put them back in the dirty bin the next day.:rolleyes1

You really don't want to admit to that here. Its not as bad as the mug debate, or the "my child will only be 39 months, do I really need to buy him a ticket" but.....

We travel by car so I do pack every one a beach towel for
the pool and the Water Park, I despise those little towels!

We just dry them at the end of the day in the dryer.

Well we ask to not have our room serviced at all when we are there. We have enought towels to do us a couple of days and then we will wash them ourselves we bring everything else we need from home.
I just dont like anyone in our room when we are not there call me weird but I had rather do everything ourselves.

"Its not as bad as the mug debate"

O.K. as a guy who has only been to WDW 6 or 7 times since 2000 I have to admit I am shocked, I didn't know what "the mug debate" was, so I ran a search here and wow, people are out of their minds about this mug thing! I am going to love being a DVC member!!!! See, I can't go to work and have a debate with the people over reusing resort mugs but I can come here! This is gonna be awesome!!! I'm sure this is just the tip of the iceberg, I have finally found people I can relate to! There is more to this "Welcome Home" thing than I thought.

The mug debate is endless. I think we will reach compromise on gay marriage, welfare, tax fairness, and religion in the public sphere before we resolve the mug debate.

I'm with you on that one! Now, if we were traveling with small children, I'd probably take the trash and towel willingly. Some trips we have one set of guests for half the time and another set for the rest of the time, so then I do schedule a full cleaning inbetween, but that's mostly to get the beds redone.

This thread is moving off the topic of housekeeping, so I am moving it to the mousecellaneous board. Remember, though, that it still has to remain DVC related.

Thanks.

we have an owners locker and i have laundry soap and fabric softener sheets in it. We cancel mousekeeping and i wash the towels in the room. I do order a second set as soon as we get to the room if we are there in the hot months and showering twice daily.

I am in the won't reuse a towel camp. Don't do it at home, don't do it on vacation. I throw towels in pretty much daily. When we leave for the parks in the morning, i throw them in the washer and when we come back midday they go in the dryer with a fabric softener sheet. Only takes a couple minutes and makes me happy.:lovestruc

I also have some nice glycerin soap in my locker. I like the B&BW soaps. DH doesn't care, but he doesn't reuse towels either. Oh, and I use 2, the hair needs it own towel :bride:
