Mousekeeping for your RV

Has anyone heard of this. We have friends who have spent 3 weeks in FW during the summer months. They told us that they have seen mousekeeping clean tt's in the regular camping loops...not the cabins. They seemed to be under the impression you can request and pay for this service. Personally, I've never heard of it, but wondered if it really was an option and if anyone has done this?

Never heard of it. There are two cabins in Loop 100. Maybe that's what they saw.

Nope..they are long time FW visitors. Been going for years..they know about the cabins in the camping loops. In fact, that's how our coversation started. Her niece was staying in one of the cabin loops(not the ones in the camping loops..they have never seen those actually occupied!). Anyway, they were commenting on how someone in their camping loop had arranged for mousekeeping. I've never heard of it either. I guess anything is possible though.

I've never heard of that. And even if they offered it, I wouldn't want it !! If I wanted housekeeping...I would stay in a cabin. I personally like the idea of NOT having someone else going through my stuff

I do know of a lady that winters in the 1300 loop that is verrrrrry old & a widow. She has an outside company pull her TT in & set it up for her including a set of wooden steps w/a wheelchair ramp. Now that I think of it, I have seen a mousekeeping van in front of her place from time to time - so maybe it can be done. I don't think I want to know how much it cost, though!

I don't think I'd make use of it either. However it's nice to know if you "needed" it for some reason it was available. These people spend three to four weeks..and they hadn't used it, but saw other people in their loop that did. I suppose if you are camping for that long you might want a good vacuuming..that sort of thing, especially with pets for that long. I know we only keep a light dustbuster type vacuum in our trailer. There are those that want to use their RV because they bring their pets....but might still want to be pampered with a little mousekeeping from time to time. Same reason some dont want to cook because they're on vacation. Others may not want to do a heavy cleaning. I'm not saying I'd have a use for it, but was curious about the service.

One can only IMAGINE what it costs! It's Disney after all! I'm sure it's not cheap, but I guess it all depends on the person. What might be worth it to one, might not be to another.

I would have been ashamed to have someone come in an clean our tt, I would have had to clean it so they could come in and clean it

It would think it's a specialty service like others have mentioned, maybe for older and/or disabled campers, I've never heard of it personally.

Hehe..I just called the front desk at the fort and asked if they now offer mousekeeping services to the camping units other than the cabins, I spoke with someone who said thay didn't know and she transfered my call, after waiting 10 minutes on the phone, I didn't give a crap anymore and hung up...lol..sorry..

No thank you. I'll fix my own bed, sweep the floor and wipe the table. I think I even prefer to empty my own toilet. That way I know it's done right!

Des, on one trip to FW I camped next to this lady in 1300 (I sounds like her - I think it was 2002 when I got a cabin for the women folk and us guys had a site in 1300 that year). I think it was the first year she was a widow; she and her husband and come every winter to the Fort (when they had the special long-term Settler's rate which has since been discontinued). They stored the camper in Orlando every year and had it taken out to the Fort and set up for them. Guess she's still going strong which is good for her (although she was not in a wheel chair at that time).

Some folks don't care what some things cost. Even if it's greater than what we would expect, they get it because they want it and because they can. It also enables them to enjoy the Fort more and longer (in this case) especially if getting around is difficult.

Mousekeeping for a long-term stay would sound good to me. Too bad the Settler's rate went away. And that Disney now charges current-day rates at the Fort. Now if I could get a discounted meal plan at Trail's End ... (longer than the Free Dining promo, that is)

I think the people were on site when mousekeeping came. It's probably by appointment.
