Though I have been to Disney many times, I have never stayed onsite. We are finally staying at POFQ next month!!! Dp most people tip mousekeeping daily, and what is the reason for that? I have always tipped housekeeping at the end of any stay in a hotel. Is it different in WDW?

Hi Pixiedust,

I always tip daily whether in WDW or not. I guess it's just personal preference.

Since you don't always get the same mousekeeper every day, we tip $1 per person per day. This way I am assured that the person who actually cleans the room gets the tip.

OMG I never thought of the fact that it may be a different person each day. Thanks for the info...I'll now tip daily.

I've been trying to tip my mousekeeping every day, but she won't take the money. Ihave been leaving it on the sink. I guess we'll just leave it at the end of the trip.

I would suggest bringing envelopes to leave it in so that they know to take it.

Wow, what's up with that?!?!?!

We always just leave the tip on the bed, and it's never there when we get back!

I also leave a tip daily for the reaons mentioned above. If the room is messier than normal then I do tip extra, but we are usually pretty neat. Upon check-out we do tip a bit more because the extra time that is needed to clean a "check-out" room as opposed to an "stay-over". I used to be in charge of a housekeeping team before I got married (oh so long ago, lol!) and remember how tough it was for some of the people who had all checkouts that day!

I have also learned that when you travel in different parts of the country, the housekeeping staff may not speak English as their first language, so even leaving a note may not encourage them to take your money. I try to leave a note in Spanish/or whatever language they speak if I can to let them know it is ok to take. If you can't do that, then leaving a note with the simple word 'TIP' is usually sufficient. Generally in the hotel industry leaving the money in an unusual place (like on a pillow with a note) is better than leaving it out on a table or dresser.

Thanks for thinking of those who count on your tips to supplement their income!

I always put the money under the TV remote on the bed. Sometimes I also leave a little note with the money wishing them a nice day. Money is always gone when I get back and have received many nice notes in return.

Many times we have left money in an envelope, and it's still there when we return.

I found that if we stick the $$ out of the envelope a bit, they always seem to take it. I print out the tip envelopes, and then let the girls take turn signing, and put the words FOR YOU on them

I printed up tip envelopes for each night of our stay and filled them before we got to Disney (thanks for the tip, DIS boards!)
I left the envelope on the vanity every day.

DBF thought I was a genius.

Next time, I think I'll make up another envelope dedicated to luggage services tips, so I'm not caught scrambling.

I had DD7 decorate envelopes that she printed "Mousekeeping" on. After the first night, the mousekeeper didn't take the $. (Maybe she didn't want to take what might have been a child's?) DH then made daily notes telling the housekeeper to "Please take this" and drew an arrow pointing to DD's envelopes! :rotfl: Housekeeping got the hint and all was well. She even left towel animals for DD on several nights.

Our Mousekeeper was wonderful this Spring Break and she did many creative things with the animals and towels. I couldn't figure out where to leave a tip and we had forgotten envelopes. The day before we left, we had got to breakfast at the resort and came back to go to the park. Our room had already been cleaned...including a concert with multilevel towel stages with several Stitch dolls as the "stars" and towel stadium seating for the other animals sooo cute. The Mousekeeper left a note "Hope you enjoy the Concert! See you on Thursday" (letting us know the next day would be her day off). We found her coming out of the next door room and the kids hugged her got her autograph and took her picture. Then we tipped her. She said she didn't expect a tip she just likes to make the cute arrangements for the kids because they come back from the parks tired and crabby sometimes...what a sweetie! We convinced her to take the tip and thanked her so much. I emailed Disney about how wonderful she was and how special she made the trip. We tipped her well but not until we were going to leave so obviously she doesn't do it for the tips but for the kids :grouphug:

Looks like we both are staying at POFQ, Pixie. We're there 5/7 - 13. I'm really looking forward to it and all the reviews I've seen about FQ have all been quite complimentary.

We tipped our Mousekeeper daily even it was not the same one. She also did some cute animal making with the towels in our room. My DD's loved coming in to see what the days suprise was. One day she took their stuffed animals and put my wifes glasses on 1 and put them on a towel across our headboards. We also found envelopes at themouseforless.com and used these for their daily tip.

Okay, so much tip is "acceptable?" Do you tip more at a deluxe as opposed to a value resort?
