Mouse Ear Hat Question

We are surprising my cousin's 10 year-old with a trip to Disney over Labor Day. Last weekend, I was in NYC and went to the World of Disney. I decided to buy her a mouse ear hat to give her for her birthday (when we reveal the surprise).

I decided on the pink Minnie one. I know what some of you are already thinking. YES, el stupido bought the infant size hat. I should have wondered why it had a chin strap when the others didn't.

But it looks big enough for a 10 year old. Will it fit her? Even if it does fit her, will people notice that she has on the infant hat? Where else can I get more mouse ears to remedy the situation? I won't be near another World of Disney before the trip.

Perhaps you can get a doll for her and put it on the doll.

FWIW, my son's infant-size hat fits his 8-year-old sister fine. So you might be ok if you want to go ahead and try that one My daughter didn't realize the ones with straps were meant to be for babies/toddlers until we told her.

If that won't work, though, I like the idea of getting a doll to wear the hat! Then for the little girl herself, you could order some ears online. I don't know the best place to do that re: price, reliability, etc, but there are a lot of stores that seem to sell them. It will fit fine. I saw a young girl of about 10 years old wearing the infant hat and she had the chin strap under her pony tail, so it stayed on her head better. The ears are not much smaller than the youth hat sizes.

Was that my daughter!? She's 8 and even the toddler size didn't fit well, so we had to anchor it to her ponytail.
