So, being the well-rounded Disney fanatic that I am, I always try to read everything in print about Disney - positive and negative. I prefer to form my own opinions, and usually don't let these books sway me in any particular direction. But this book is really harsh. It was written several years ago, but I suppose some of it may still be true. Safety issues being unimportant at Disney parks, pornography being distributed by Disney companies, etc.

Funny though, even as I read it, I'm not getting the feeling I should boycott Disney. Am I just way too enchanted by Disney? If you've read the book, let me know your thoughts.

I have heard of the book before....

I personally think it would be silly to boycott Disney because of a few things one doesn't agree with....with all the companies Disney owns, they are bound to do a few things that bother us all....

I remember people wanting to boycott Disney because one of their smaller movie divisions produces R rated movies..

one of my favorites is the group that boycots Disney because they are a satanic company....the basis of this thinking is because of the characters..they claim it is Satanic to give human like characteristics to animals..therefore Mickey/Minnie/ Goofy...all animal characters that walk upright..and talk..are definitely Satanic.........LOL....

I guess the Mickeymobile would scare some of these people....LOL

I look at all the good Disney has done for the world..and all the joy/Magic they bring to people..and ignore the few things I might not agree with..

According to this book, the satanic thing comes from certain bands on one of Disney's record labels. Their songs contain lyrics which seem to encourage Satanism. Quite honestly, if I hadn't read this book, I wouldn't have even known this bit of information, and even now that I do, it doesn't really mean much to me anyway.

But like you said, some people like to mold and shape things to fit whatever image they're looking for (like Mickey being a Sorcerer is evil  ). The things in this book are facts, which I suppose makes it hold some water, but I guess I'm just way too into the more positive side of Disney and can ignore all the creepy stuff.

The safety issue is probably the only thing that really makes me think again. But even then, I still feel safer at Disney parks than at my local Six Flags - SF employees are SCARY!;)

My ex-mother-in-law had gone to a religious retreat and brought home alll kinds of literature..there was a whole pamphlet on the evil Disney/ the only reason they called disney satanic was because of giving human like characteristics to animals....I asked if the easter bunny was therefor satanic...LOL

I'm sure with all that Disney owns, some of their smaller companies possibly distribute music I would not agree with..or possibly adult magazines...but I can't expect them to do everything my way..I am totally against smoking, but I can't boycott all stores or businesses that sell cigarettes....

in the grand scheme of things. why sweat the small stuff....

have you ever seen a list of what all Disney owns...
