I know this is SO incredibly stupid but I am SO bummed today. Tomorrow was supposed to be the day we leave for a quick trip to DLR. I had it all planned out VERY well. It was going to be just under $1500 ($1499.90 to be exact) including airfare but not extras like food etc.

Well DH nixed the idea when he wasn't paid as much last month as we expected. Needless to say all my planning was for nothing and now I find out that his sister and family is going to be there this week too and we could have met them there! Boo! I SO want to be packing right now and getting ready to go but it's not going to happen until NEXT year at Thanksgiving time.

Whine whine.

Opportunities will knock. Be on the alert for possibilities. Whine/wine can bring a great Buzz; this too shall pass.

It's fine to be disappointed. It's what makes us really appreciate the good things in life. I'd be bummed too if I were you.

I was there last year. We find we're in a tight spot financially (we're managing fin but no extras!!) so I know this trip has DH cringing. I'm still shocked he ok'd this trip!

Hang in there, it's ok to mourn & feel sad. Another trip will be on the horizon in no time!:wizard:

It's not stupid at all. Heck, I'm already pre-mourning the trip to WDW I want to take in February of 2009! :lmao:

It's hard to get excited when something little like a strike at DH's company could eat up all the money I'll be putting away for that vacation. :sad2:

:grouphug:

Look on the bright side. You get to hang out here for a whole other year!

Just kidding.

Here's hoping things get better.:flower3:

I feel your pain. Two years ago I was all packed and we were to leave that afternoon when I was rushed in for surgery.. When we did get to go, it was so much better..... Hope the year goes quickly for you..

I remember you talking about this before. Sorry you did not get to go. We kind of had an upheaval too!
We were at DL from Nov 14-19 and had just bought DVC. Three days after we got home Dh was laid off. Which is so stupid because they paid for him to go to a conference down there. Fortunately we got a good severence package and he starts somewhere else Monday but gee talk about a shock to the system! Your planning is never for nothing. Your next trip will be very well planned that's all!:goodvibes

I can sympathize too...I was supposed to go on Saturday for 5 nights, but had to cancel due to work obligations. But, now, I am working on next year's trip.

Here's hoping things look up for you soon!

Thanks :) We would be flying there right now and instead I'm at home with 2 grumpy kids (my almost 2 year old had a blood test screen today for allergies and my 4 year old is tired from preschool) and my husband is at Red Lobster eating steak and shrimp on the company's tab and having fun w/ his work buddies.

I told him I'm not letting him back in the door without a to-go cheesecake for me.

Between finances and my health we are skipping our annual trip with friends at New Year's. No DL for me this year. No Club 33 brunch and no Small World. [pout]

I am so sorry this happened to you! Its perfectly normal and understandable to be sad and disappointed. And this is the place to come vent, we all love Disney and can empathize! I hope that very soon you can plan another trip. Hang in there, Disneyland will always be there for you but for now, just feel sad, you are entitled!

Hope you got that cheescake.;)

We were planning to go in February and husband got laid off the day after Thanksgiving-- felt the same way. Well we cancelled our reservations (all 100 % refundable) and had given up all hope of a Disneyland trip but husband went out and got a better job. The bummer part is still we won't be able to go for another year (he will get 2 weeks vacation after 1 year) but the good part is we will have a year to plan it ;-)

50sjayne, I am so sorry about your husband being laid off the day after Thanksgiving but how great that he found an even better job! :cool1:

I keep telling myself that the next trip will be even more sweet because I had to wait. Plus I like planning almost (ALMOST) as much as going.

Thanks-- and I agree about the last part 100% ;-)
