Are these two places close to each other? I am a little confused!

Paradise Point is within walking distance of the ship. The mountain top requires transportation. If you have never been to the island, I'd go in one of the open trucks and do a tour that takes you to the mountain top. We did the Paradise Point a few weeks ago and it was expensive - I want to say $29/pp. You can get a tour and see the ship in the harbor for a few dollars more.

I think that coupon is for a Bushwacker? Not the actual skyride.

OOOPs! :lmao:

I know that we used a coupon when we went on the tram a few years ago. I will keep looking.

I thought the Paradise Point Skyride was $19? $18 thru DCL?

When we went in December it was $18 but only $15 through DCL. It's the first time a DCL excursion has been cheaper than doing it on our own!

BTW, when you do it through DCL you just get tickets, there is no actual excursion. You can go over to the skyway any time you'd like.

I thought that was wierd too!!

We did Paradise Point, went up got some ice cream from the little shop up there(don't ask how much;) ) then took some pics, and walked back to the ship. It was a really nice view.

Would there be time to Do the St Thomas Island Tour (8:15-12:45) and still do the tram to Paradise Point?

Yes, as long as you head to the tram soon after the end of the tour. The tramway is only 3-4 blocks from the ship dock. It's a quick trip to the top, but there might be a line. There are 6 cars on the tramway. 3 go up while the other 3 come down. Each car holds a maximum of 8 people so only 24 can go up at a time. It takes about 5 minutes to complete the cycle so if there is a long line it can take a while to get to the top.

Again, just head there right after your tour (or after a quick bite to eat) and you'll be fine. Also make sure you leave plenty of time for the trip back down and for the walk back to the ship. In your case I might wait to get tickets at the tramway, just in case you are too tired after your tour or change your mind.

My wife and I did the Skyride in 2006. I belived that we only paid $15 per person throughDCL. We loved it. You could do your own thing at your own pace. Get a Bushwacker. Man that was a drink, but be carfull, it was kinda strong. :drinking1

There is also a restaurant up there :thumbsup2

We're not much into shopping so the shops at the top won't interest us. I was wondering if you thought it was worth it (money wise) for us (2 adults 2 kids) to go up there just to see the view and take a few pictures?

PLUS....will you be able to take some decent pictures also on the way up or down the tram ride?

It is within walking distance from the ship if the ship is docked. If you have to tender, you can walk to Paradise Point (it's a good mile or so hike) or take a taxi.

We just got off the Magic a week ago. We took the Mountain top and Butterfly tour. You drive in the open tour trucks to multiple mountain view sites including a view of Meghan's Bay and the Mountain Top site. One of the stops is very close to the top on the Skyride. I felt the tour we took was worthwhile plus we checked out the butterfly farm which is walking distance to the ship.

My family did both excursions, but on different sailings. We did the island tour on our first Eastern and did the tramway on our last Eastern. I loved the island tour and you did get to visit a couple of places with wonderful views (including a good view of the ship).

That said, I also loved the tramway. We did this at a leisurely pace and spent quite a bit of time at the top (eating, drinking, shopping, taking pictures). I don't know that I would attempt both in the same trip. I think you would lose some enjoyment if you had to rush this.

Question about the Island Tour. How long do you spend at Mountain Top? I understand there is shopping & eating places up there. I was wondering if you are rushed when you get there.

Also trying to decide if we should take the St. Thomas Island Tour or the Coral World Ocean & Island Drive. The difference in time is and hour & $6 more for the one that includes Coral World. This will be the first time we have been to St. Thomas & want to see the most of the island that we can.
Any advise? :confused3
