Sounds like we won't want to eat here particularly, so bearing in mind that we adore Motown music, how can we experience it without having to order a meal, and also bearing in mind we have a 15 year old with us, so may have to leave early (their rules, not ours!) Any ideas please?

There is a bar, but since you have a 15 year old, order appetizers and drinks. The food is okay, but you should be just fine with appetizers.

There is a gameroom/arcade downstairs that you could visit. You can see all the memorabilia upstairs on your way in.

You can definitely enjoy the atmosphere whether you get dinner or not. If you like Buffalo chicken wings, we found Motown's to be the best. We also had them at Margaritaville, Hard Rock Cafe and Mythos (theirs were an experience!), but Motown's won hands down! Didn't care for the onion ring thing (very salt-n-pepper-y), or the potato skins (seemed re-heated).
If you do decide to have dinner, I got a ribeye steak which was very tender and good, once I added salt!

We spent 2 of our 3 evenings at Motown w/our boys (9 and 11 yo's) and another couple w/their 2 boys. We sat at the bar downstairs, while they played in the arcade and had a blast (never had to leave early)!

There's token machines throughout the arcade, and the bathroom's are upstairs (main dining area).

It was never crowded...even on Friday night (which was grad night), while being *very* family friendly.

Our last night there, this guy had won a "life-size SpongeBob" stuffed...uh.... "sponge," :teeth: and sat him on one of the barstools facing the bar.

He fit right in.
