Motorhome/Cabin

My 4-person family, my brother's 3-person family, my sister's 6-person family and my parents are planning a DW vacation in October. My sister's family will be driving down from KY with my parents in their 37 ft motorhome. My family and my brother's family will be flying in from WA and AK. So, my question is, how far apart are the campsites (where the motorhome will be) from the cabins? Or, can you park a motorhome beside a cabin?
Also, people mention a boat ride to the parks. Is this a lake or river that to boat traverses?
And, one last question: Does anyone know where I can find an online map of DW with all of the parks on it (including the campgrounds)? I would just like to know the "lay-of-the-land".

Most of the cabins and campsites are quite far apart. I think the best chance would to request the 2100 loop for cabin and full hookup campsite would be 1100 loop , those site are fairly close. For a map go to http://fly.hiwaay.net/~jlspence/fwmapnew.jpg . You will love Fort Wilderness.

Lots of good information here! Be sure to check the theme parks & tips boards too.

As far as boats to the parks - From Ft. Wilderness, there is a boat that takes you across a lagoon to Magic Kingdom. (Also stops at Wilderness Lodge on the way.) There is also a boat that can take you to the Contempory.

For Animal Kingdom, Epcot and MGM, (as well as Downtown disney) there are buses. I think the transportation system is great and we never use a car on Disney property.

The campground has canoes, pontoon boats and little water mice that can be rented for you to use. Also can rent bicycles and golf carts.

Hi,
While I was at FW once I checked out this very
question. NHcampers is correct that some
of the campsites in loop 1100 and some of the
cabins in loop 2100 back up to each other. Some
also have dirt(not disney) paths,through the woods,
going to and from some of the campsites and cabins.
With the paths there, it looked like people had done
this before. Here are the matching numbers of what I
put together. This info was gathered 2 or 3 years ago
so I hope it has not changed( I don't think so).
Campsites VS. Cabins
1109 - 2122
1111 - 2124
1116 - 2130
1117 - 2132
1119 - 2134
If all else fails give FW a call at 407-824-2900 and ask.
