We hope to try Fort Wilderness again next June as our first attempt in 2004 was thwarted by Hurricane Jean and we ended up in a DW value motel for a week. We have a 34' motor home with two slides and it will sleep four adults and two children comfortably, but there will be nine of us this trip(four adults, five children) and we need more space. The maximum number for a site is ten so we will be putting up a tent on the site also. I have spoken with several Disney staffers and received differing answers in reference to tent size on the site with the MH. Our tent is a 14' by 14'. Is there anyone out there that has placed a tent this size along with a MH this size or larger on the same site?

I am staying at FW this week and can tell you that I have seen plenty of 40' motorhomes with tents on the site as well.

My advice would be to tell them the size of your MH is bigger than 34' as they may put you in a 40+ foot spot which would help give you more room.

My unit is 42' in spot #866 and I am parking my toad sideways in front of my MH and still have enough room to have installed a tent to my rear if I needed to. I would guess I could fit a 10x10 or 12x12 to the rear.

Just tell the folks at CRO your camper size and that you need as large a sand pad as possible. You might go for a standard full hookup instead of a preferred full hookup as the preferred full hookup sites seem to have lots of driveway and very little sand pad.

If you have a Toad, that may have to be parked in the front parking lot. Any extra cars will have to be parked in the front parking lot.

We had our 36 ft motorhome parked all the way to the back on the concrete pad and there was plenty of room on the sandy area behind the MH for a tent. We didn't have room for our minivan at our site though without it sticking out into the road. We left the minivan in the vistor lot and used the golf cart to go up there for the 2 times we went offsite.

We saw lots of people in the 1800 loop with an rv and a tent. :)

In 2005 we packed up our 34 foot motorhome, 8 people and one dog and headed out to Fort Wilderness from Maine. We also packed up 3 tents as the "kids" did not want to sleep in the motorhome. We set up all 3 tents in back of the motorhome (barely) and I didn't hear one complaint from them or from anyone from FW about having 3 tents. We did have a tow vehicle and also a golf cart on our site, 336. And believe it or not, it wasn't a very big site...so I would bet that you would have no problem.

Is it just sleeping accomodations you are trying to come up with? If so, why not put a couple of air mattresses on the RV floor. If you have slide-outs, I'd think you have the room.
