Being 4 months pregnant, my nausea threshold is a little lower than normal. Has anyone had any problem with Soarin'? I want to ride it, but don't want to risk being sick for a few hours, so thought I would check here first.

I am very prone to motion sickness, so I know how you feel. I don't ride Star Tours or any coaster...but, armed with Bonine, I decided to chance Soarin'. I sat on the end where I could look at the unmoving wall any time the swooping got too intense. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, and that's saying a LOT. Be sure to check with your OB before taking anything for nausea beforehand. But periodic "wall checks" should help.

I know of three people who have had nausea problems on other rides who
had absolutely no problems on Soarin....good luck :wave2:

I am pretty prone to motion sickness as well. I can't ride any motion simulator like Star Tours. Can't ride Rock-n-roller coaster or Space Mountain....I had NO problem on Soarin' at all. As a matter of fact, it's now one of my favorite rides!

Soarin' is more like watching a movie on an IMAX screen, there's some movement on your seats (it does go up and comes down), but it's not like other simulators. It's very smooth, kinda relaxing. If it bothered you closing your eyes would take most of the movement out of the ride.

Exactly, I just did it today for the FIRST time and I suffer horrible with all kinds of motion sickness..but you will enjoy this ride. My only complaint is that the ride is TOO short. It is awesome!! DH & I loved it. Yes, the movement of the seat is minor and all you will need to do if it the picture gives you that motion-sickness feeling, is just close your eyes..but by all means go for it. Good Luck. :yay:

My DW has a bad time with car sickness but for some reason she can handle any ride that I have put in front of her, with the exceptions of Dr. Doom's Death Drop and MS. Those are the only two rides that get her. She has done Soarin and absolutely loved it.

:rotfl: :lmao: That's not Dr. Doom's Death Drop, it's Dr. Doom's Fearfall! :lmao: :rotfl:

But, I think your title is better! That thing is waaay too scary for me. The funny thing is that it is the same thing as Tower of Terror, which I'm OK with. It is just that since it is outside, and you can look down, I'm sure that THIS TIME the ride will break and it will be......a Death Drop! :lmao:
:goodvibes

i don't usually get sick on rides but there are a few parts in Soarin' that i felt a little aloff. try and get one of the side seats so you can look off to the side every once in a while if you decide to go on it. that's what i did and it really wasn't a problem.

While I loved Soarin', I definately won't do it again without taking Dramamine first. I was dizzy when I got off... my motion sickness is pretty severe due to a pituitary gland issue!

Just to update, my family of 5 rode it (twice!) yesterday and noone, including myself, had any problems. It's now our favorite ride- it was awesome :Pinkbounc !!!

I am prone to motion sickness as well, especially with simulator rides - can't ride Star Tours, for instance. But I did great on Soarin' - no problems at all. I think there was enough real movement for it not to seem like a simulation ride, but the real movement didn't make me queasy in the least.

No motion sickness for me on Soarin'... just felt like I was a bot to fall off the whole time :scared1: lol. Other than that, it is an awesome ride and you should have no problem with motion sickness. :thumbsup2
