Motion Sickness on Forbidden Journey?

I used to love twisty, turny, upside down, loop-de-loop rides, but alas, that's a thing of the past for me as well.

I went on Simpsons last year and definitely felt queasy. I ended up shutting my eyes about 1/2 way through and I was fine, but decided that I wouldn't be able to go on it again unless I was medicated. I was fine w/ Mummy, but dueling dragons had me feeling like I had had a lobotomy. Never made it onto Spiderman last year but fully intend to this year. So between Spiderman and FJ, I think that Bonine is definitely in order.

I haven't really seen this mentioned, but does RRR have a similar effect?

RRR has no motion sickness factor for me at all.

I rode it twice last week with no problem whatsoever. I've had trouble in the past on Star tours and Body wars, but again, nothing on Forbidden Journey.

OK,here is my question then.It may have been answered already and might have missed it.So here is the question.I can handle Simpsons,Mummy and Spidy at the U,at DW StarWars,Body Tour and Dino is nothing for me.How much more or less intense is FJ compared to those rides??

Pffft. You're fine.

Hmm, If Mummy is my max, does that mean that Spiderman and the Simpsons are probably no goes as well?

I'm fine on Expedition Everest and Spiderman. Rockin' Roller Coaster can be a slight issue depending on what I have or have not eaten. Mummy does push my limits a little farther. I have to exhale on the curves and inhale on the ups. It actually helps A LOT.

Simpsons is impossible. I got to the top of the "roller coaster" and the wrecking ball comes and I'm done. If I close my eyes it gets a little better but still sickening.

I haven't ridden FJ but I worry about it being similar to the Simpsons ride.

Dramamine and Bonine aren't options because I sleep for hours after I take them. I use the motion sickness patch and it helps a lot.

I only take Dramamine and Bonine if I want to sleep in a car or on a plane. I also use ginger pills, they work much better for me to settle my stomach and help prevent motion sickness with out any drowsiness at all.

I can handle Star Tours, Everest and RoRC, but flying seens on IMAX films can make me queezy. Hopefully I can close my eyes on FJ and I am not going to do the Simpsons ride, just in case. The last thing I want to be is ill on my vacation

Has anyone tried the less-drowsy Dramamine? I just bought it for our trip because I have to ride FJ at least once, but lately I feel ill on almost everything. After Dueling Dragons a few years back I was sick for an hour, and after Everest I almost lost it on the safari - which I went on to try and feel better!

That's what I use all the time. I think it is the same formulation as Bonine.

Okay...so, I rode it. I did take some motion sickness pills beforehand, and it was good that I did, otherwise I think I would have not felt well at all.

It is an amazing, spectacular ride, with tremendous special effects. I am so, so glad I rode it.

Having said that...I probably won't ride it again anytime soon. I did feel sick, as did my friend, and she has a stronger stomach than I do...able to ride crazier coasters than me. A girl on my ride vehicle felt ill enough to sit down on the stairs before the exit, and said she felt like she was going to throw up. Her friend was escorted off because she couldn't fit, I felt very bad for her.

Awesome ride, but if you are motion sickness prone like I am, take something first, or you will be sorry! I was almost sorry and I DID take something.

My son and I rode FP for the first time yesterday afternoon. (FYI, it was 4 o'clock on Saturday afternoon. We rode the single rider line, had zero wait, and were able to sit together.) I sometimes get a little queasy on the Simpsons but never have trouble on anything else. My son is 18 and has NEVER been bothered by any ride. Well, we both hated FP. We both became so sick that we had to sit down for half an hour and my son had a headache for another hour. To be honest, we did not expect this reaction at all.
I was really disappointed.

Wow, I am so surprised about the motion sickness issues some have been having on this ride. I am surprised because I wouldn't even ride Star Tours, body wars more than once. Expedition Everest gets me sometimes, but its mild so I keep riding it.

I rode Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey three times on our vacation, and no problems whatsoever.

I am sorry it didn't work out for you.

It's just funny how people are affected so differently. We were genuinely shocked. Ok so that just leaves more time for Dueling Dragons, or whatever they are calling it these days.

Out of our party of 4, I was the only one that felt queasy. So it really does affect everyone differently.

There's something else to consider when trying to determine whether you'll get queasy on a ride or not. Are you tired from lack of sleep? Dehydrated? Have the begininnings of heat exhaustion? Not given your inner ear a chance to reset yet? (The inner ear is filled half way with fluid and has microscopic rocks in it. If they are unbalanced you need to turn your head upside down for a moment and try to get them to resettle, kind of like a snow globe.....hehe- my dad's an ear doctor and I'm sure he'd cringe at that very simplified version of an otherwise technical procedure done for dizziness - but I find that helps sometimes). Sometimes its not that a ride is good or bad, but how your body is really feeling when you get on it and whether it can take it or not.

I know I'm always more more prone to motion sickness when I'm tired, hot or hungry.

I was so disappointed by this ride. Everyone had it built up to be this big amazing thing... and it broke down TWICE while we were on it, and it made me feel sick. I have no trouble usually with roller coasters, but can't play those 3D video games for more than 30 minutes without feeling sick.

:wizard: Hogsmead on the other hand, was AMAZING. As was the inside of the castle for the line-up for the ride. Butterbeer is SO yummy, I tried the iced kind. It's like a slushie. :woohoo:

I felt a little queasy after riding FJ. I had to close my eyes about halfway into the ride and I opened them again after about 30 seconds or so.

It was summer, and a very hot day. Also, parts of the film are blurry, and I think that contributes to the overall queasiness factor for me.

I would still ride it. Anytime I feel a little ill on a ride closing my eyes helps.

Four of us rode it and all of us had taken Dramamine that morning. Two of us felt queasy during the last 30 seconds and the other two felt very sick for most of the ride. The two who felt very sick were seated on the outside seats.

Taking motion sickness meds the night before serves me much better than taking it in the mornng.

I rode 3 times with my 11 yr old and 7 yr old. No problems. My husband felt queasy after Spiderman but tried the FJ anyway. He came off the ride queasy and clammy. Didnt' feel right for the rest of the day unfortunately. He was glad he tried it though fi that helps.
