Hi All,
Last year we went to Disney and for the first time I became sick on a couple of rides. I was wondering if anybody has any cures or suggestions on what to take so I dont get sick? This is the first time that it has happened to me and I dont know why (it cant be because I am getting older is it?!?!?! :rotfl: ) I would love to ride all the "thrillers" this year without getting ill, please help! :) :grouphug:

I have tried all kinds of cures for motion sickness, as I get queasy on all spinny rides and most coasters. Someone told me last year to take a Zantac before going to the parks, as the Zantac helps reduce the acid in your stomach that can make you queasy. I have been doing this for over a year, and it really helps. It is over the counter, so you do not need a prescription.

I would try a motion sickness medication - I've been getting more prone to motion sickness the older I get, and like you, for the first time I was affected by a couple of rides last year.

So I take a Bonine (over the counter - I got it at Walgreens) or Meclizine (the exact same thing as Bonine, you can get it without a prescription, I just ask at the Walgreens pharmacy counter - it's MUCH cheaper to get it this way rather than buying Bonine) the morning before we go into the parks, and then again 4-6 hours later if I think I'll need another one.

Dramamine is likely to make you very drowsy, and I've found the non-drowsy version doesn't work as well for me. But Bonine/Meclizine doesn't make me drowsy at all. So that's my 2 cents!

Not sure how it would work at the parks but DD uses the acupressure bands that go on your wrists.

Ginger- take ginger. I watch the show Mythbusters and they proved that Ginger relieved the symptoms without making you feel icky. I always have to take Dramamine and it makes me sleepy. On our trip this past March I took a Ginger tablet every morning and I never got sick feeling. Granted I didn't ride Mission: Space but I did ride all of the coasters. I had no side effects and felt great!

I would also suggest a motion sickness medication - Bonine would be my recommendation. Also, try getting Sea Bands. Drugs stores will have them near the Bonine and Dramamine. They are wristbands that you wear while on the rides.
