DH has major issues...we've never been to US/IOA, but he is skittish about any motion ride ever since Star Tours 6 years ago...won't even try Mission Space (even the green version), but loved Soaring. With that in mind...here are ones I am unsure of (I'm gonna ride all of them as will DD12 and DS9, but don't want him mad and DD6 may be scared of some as well and he can take off with her): Forbidden Journey and Spider Man at US...any others. AT IOA, how about Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, Twister and Simpsons. Am I right that all of these may present issues? Any advice is welcome.

Shrek and Jimmy Neutron have stationary seating available and Twister is a walk through so you should be good on those. Definitey stay away from The Simpsons though...you will not do well if you have motion sickness.

I wouldn't worry about Spiderman. I am quite prone but never get sick in there. If he does, he can just look away from the screen. Jimmy Neutron and Simspons can get to me. Forbidden Journey did as well unless I was taking dramamine.

The "thrill" ride aspects of US/IOA is one of the reasons we have never had interest in going to either park.

However, with WWoHP, we are going to give it a go. My question:

Does it help to take motion sickness meds on any of these rides?

Also, no inversions whatsoever, can anyone tell me which ones have them? Or which rides would be like Rock N Roller Coaster which we all hated. I know we wouldn't like the Dragons Challenge in HP.

Thanks Metro West and damo!! This is just what I needed to know. damo, did Jimmy Neutron bother you even with stationary seating?

I didn't try the stationary seating. The ride doesn't make me nearly as nauseous as Simpsons in the back row though. Simpsons in the front row is very manageable for me.

I always take dramamine the night before though. It makes a huge difference.

I have horrible MS (and I admit a big chicken:upsidedow) I was fine on Spiderman and can't wait to ride it again.

Spider Man made me really queasy.

Men in Black also made me really queasy. I was disappointed -- I had read all these tips about how to do well on it, and I couldn't focus enough to remember them.

Do you also take dramamine in the AM too or just the night before?:confused3

DD gets motion sickness too, but about the only that really gets to her is Mission Space.

Otherwise, she is fine on roller coasters, including Rock n Rollercoaster, Hulk, Dueling Dragons (now Dragon Challenge), never had problems with Star Tours, Body Wars, Spiderman or Jimmy Neutron.

Do you think she will be OK on FJ? I've heard it is only 3 minutes long.

If Mission Space is the only ride that gives her motion sickness, I think she will be fine. The ride is similar to Spiderman and Soarin' and nothing like the spin on Mission Space.

Don't get "zippy" taking Dramamine.
I have a motion sickness problem on boats (even a slight problem on elevators), I use the ReliefBand
(scan net for best pricing)
It really really really does work!!!
Went on a chartered boat w/lunch cruise in Virgin Islands, wore my band...after we anchored and ate EVERYONE was ill but me.
I have used it for certain rides at amusement parks, as well.
Great product.

I actually got motion sickness on Thunder Mountain! I take natural ginger capsules-about 4 per time. Bring real ginger cookies or candied ginger. And I will take a Bonine (similar to Dramanine) before FJ just in case.

I took my big sis yesterday and the first time through FJ she got really ill but she wanted to ride it again. We made a plan that when we went to a screen she closed her eyes because really you're not moving that much and the screen tricks your brain into thinking so. Then when we moved out of the screen I'd tap her on the leg and she'd open her eyes. We did this through the whole ride and she walked off it with no problems!!!

Me on the other hand couldn't sleep last night because I kept feeling like I was on FJ!

I haven't been on the Potter rides, but the worst for me was The Cat in the Hat. It spins you silly at one point, and REALLY got to me. Worst than any ride in Orlando except maybe Mission Space. Sad for a ride made for 3 year olds. :rotfl: Otherwise, it's a cute ride like Winny the Pooh in Magic Kingdom.

I had no problems on Spiderman or Simpsons, and I have to take a Bonine (or Dramamine Less Drowsy, same thing) if I'm going anywhere near a plane or a boat.

They've drastically reduced the spinning on CitH now. It only spins about twice.

I love amusement park rides! However, the only ride I've ever gotten MS on is Mission Space, at least I can say I have ridden it once. Now I can add another ride to that list, Forbidden Journey. Whew! Something about the screen and tricking my brain to think it is moving so fast just does me in. I had to close my eyes during the screen sections towards the end of the ride to keep from being sick. All in all it was an amazing 'ride' the effects are incredible, just not sure I could do it again. My daughters thought it was hysterical.
