Do you know what the traditional colors are? I know that 1 color means you mom is alive & 1 color means she's not - I dont' rememebr but I know my dh bought me the wrong color one year & my mom said something about it being wrong -so I've never gotten one since....

I’ve gotten them for my mom and grandma at least once that I can remember. Red is for living moms and white is for those who have passed. Yellow is for mothers who have lost their child.

Man, I have never heard of that before. Maybe the florist could tell you.

Wow. good to know! We always got my Mom a white one so it went with whatever she was wearing that day to church. I never knew the color mattered! I have been doing a huge fashion error as my grandma is still alive and doing great!!!

We used to have to wear those every durn year when we were kids. Nobody else ever did, just us.

Yep red-living
white-passed

I never knew this. See the Dis is educational. :)

It was another one of those traditions we did while growing up and until my mother passed. I wore a red one for my mother, a white one for my grandmother and a yellow one for the child we lost.

This year, I would look ridiculous picking up debris on the Wolf River wearing a corsage. ;)

I ordered flowers for my parents today. They still wear their white flowers to church on Mother's Day. I did until a few years ago. I just don't really like corsages.
