PBH finally removed the pool table from the club. You couldn't play pool on it anymore and they were using it as a table to serve the food on.

There is now a long, narrow, granite topped table that is now in its place.

All the tables in the club room have also been replaced since we were there last November. They are now all granite topped tables that match the serving table.

Other than that, there were no changes to club from when we were there 3 months ago.

Food offerings were the same, along with the same schedule.

It was $75.00 per night to upgrade to club.

That's a shame. We used to shoot pool there before they had a club lounge.
Did you meet Loewsemployee?

I am pretty sure that every employee I met during this trip was Loewsemployee. I think that was a generic name for all of 'em. :lmao: But heck, I paid my $75.00 per day for our club access, so maybe I wasn't one of "those people." Although we felt like it since we were first charged $60.00 per night and then told it was a mistake and it was really the $75.00.

Thank goodness Juanita came back to work the day before we left and tried to fix things.

I hope they have club available for 75$ on my week (Apr 5-12)

Do they have a tv in there?

my kids are going to be so disappointed. we loved playing pool in the afternoon, or evening. they are already talking about it, for our april trip. guess i will break the bad news to them.

So, don't even get me started on this trip. ;)

Do you think it would be more than $75 for club, if there were three adults instead of 2 ? Or is it the same price regardless ? TIA

We had 5 people in a suite, 3 of them adults, and it was still $75.00. It is per room, not per person.

So everyone had their hand out for their "bribe"? You still think Jaunita is the route to go for an upgrade in advance?

Seriously...do I need to bribe someone to get the club upgrade? I know you guys are probably joking, but I am hoping for the 75$ club. I have 3 humongous teenage boys with me.:lmao:

Ummm...only if she is working the day you check in.

Perhaps my bribes were not enough.

We checked in after midnight on Thursday. Juanita was gone on Friday. She called me early Monday morning, as soon as she got in to work. She apologized profusely and she credited our account very generously.

Guess I should have bribed the front desk more. :lmao:

I do understand the Villa Suite non-upgrade. They had a bunch of stars filming yet another Beethoven movie staying at the hotel. At least thiw was according to the boat captain, although we never saw any of them around the hotel.

They also had/have a ton of PGA pros staying there for the Bay Hill. We did pass Jim Furyk in the halls.

So, I guess all the suites went to the VIP's. My daughter told another PGA pro (didn't see who it was) that it was really stupid to leave their clubs in the middle of the hallway. Oh, out of the mouths of babes.

The $75.00 is the standard rate, and since you are travelling rather soon, I wouldn't worry too much about it. No need to bribe for the club rate.

We are joking about a poster recently that said that if you don't bribe the front desk, they will give you a crappy room. He claimed to be a Loews Employee and advised that is the best way to get a room. While we joke about it, after our recent experience down there, I am beginning to half believe it!

But the only problem you would have with adding club would be that they were already at their booked allotment. Have you called the hotel directly and asked to have it added? I would give it a try.

Hey Goof,

I thought you nailed down the Villa Suite for your March trip clear back in December or earlier?

My kids even bought me a Homer Simpson pool cue for our last trip and they still had the pool table but were using it for a "fancy eatin' room" table. There used to be 2 or three tables at the Motown game room that are history too. They still have an outdoor pool table by the Beach Pool bar.

Welcome back, Michele.

Sorry things didn't go as planned, but sounds like Juanita made good. Next time try a Benjamin instead of an Andrew. Maybe you'll get what you booked then. ;) Can't wait to hear more about it.

You and me both. But we got "bumped".

But that didn't bother me. I never "expect" an upgrade and I know that the VIP's take precedence over us "trashy" people (as Loewsemployee described us :) ) And the hotel was chalk full of VIP's.

What I was miffed about was that we were downgraded and none of the managers I spoke to seemed to care that I was paying for a bay view room and sitting in a garden view room. Nobody would adjust our rate until Juanita came back.

I don't expect an upgrade, but I won't tolerate being downgraded either.

Let's just say my survey was not very complimentary ;)

But all was good in the end. Juanita came through for us and we were at Universal!

I remember that poster. I did just call the hotel and they added club (no bribe necessary!) I am very excited! I think I will leave that as a surprise for the boys!

I just noticed that motherfletcher posted at 5:45, jody at 6:15 and goofy at 6:30 AM!

Is this your "insomniacs club" or something?

:rotfl2:
Definitely. Especially since I am on Mountain time, so I really posted at 4:30am our time.

Our son was getting ready for swim team, so I was checking the boards.

More like an addiction though, I think :teeth:
