Hi. Is there any nice places here in southern Ontario that I could go find a dress for our DD's wedding. I need a reasonable price and off the rack, not wanting to order. At a wedding dress store, they wanted over $300.00 for a 3 peice outfit, then like 3 month to it came in.

LOTS OF PLACES TO CHOSE FROM IN HAMILTON LIMERIDGE MALL WOULD BE A GOOD SPOT TO CHECK OUT AS THERE ARE QUITE A FEW STORES THAT IM SURE YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND SOMETHING YOUD LIKE, I BOUGHT MY OUTFIT FOR MY DAUGHTERS WEDDING THERE AND IT ONLY TOOK ME ABOUT HALF AN HOUR TO BUY THE OUTFIT PLUS SHOES AND PURSE TO MATCH PLUS I GOT A GREAT DEAL ON THE WHOLE OUTFIT! I WOULD RECOMEND TRYING THERE.:thumbsup2

The Sears Catalogue (or online at sears.ca)

They have their bridal section and it's pretty reasonable (in comparison with the rest of the bridal industry that is). And they have a good return policy so you could select several dresses, try them on, and return the ones you don't want.

Have you thought about going to Buffalo? I know David's Bridal has a lot of dresses. Our friend bought her full wedding dress there (veil, shoes, dress, all the under garments) for just under $700, which was half (at least) of the price here in Ontario. Check it out...it's worth a try.

:thumbsup2 I agree! I was just at Sears last week and couldn't get over the HUGE
and wonderful selection they had in dresses and their prices are always reasonable
and they do have a good return policy. I would DEFINITELY check them out!

There is a store in Square One that only sells formal dresses. I think it's called Norma Reed. It's on the upper level. It is very inexpensive and they have every colour and style you could imagine. My DD got her grad dress there and including the matching wrap it was $135.

There is also a store in the mall called Denise that has really beautiful dresses that range from $100 to $500.

I too would recommend you take a look at SEARS. For some reason, their wedding and related dress section is huge, and the pricing is very reasonable. My mom picked up a stunning two piece outfit for my brother's wedding last fall; total cost for the outfit, dress and shoes was under $140.

Compare this to the mother of the bride at $400+ as she purchased at a bridal shop. :scared:

Hi, there are local stores there where you could find dresses which you could renovate a little or add accessories. Also if there is enough time for the dress, DIY maybe better.

You could also try stores like Laura they have nice dresses and they are in stock. I know that is where my MIL got her dress.

If you are able to go to Buffalo, try David's Bridal as a pp said ... but also JC Penney! We hit it on a Sat morning when they had a doorcrasher special ...all dresses and jewellery were 50% off. We got my DD's grade 8 grad dress, shoes, and all of her jewellery for less than the price of the $200 dress at Le Chateau that we had looked at. :goodvibes

And their selection was huge, ranging from dresses appropriate for grade 8, to highschool, to bridesmaid, to mother of the bride dresses. :thumbsup2

Port Huron has a store called "Deb" that a lot of people go to from the London area for this type of dress. :)

Good luck!

Are you close to London? I was just at Sears Outlet and I bought 3 beautiful formal gowns for $20 each. The were all regularly priced at $200+

Another vote for Sears. I bought my mother of the groom dress at Sears and lucked out on a one day sale so got a great price.

They had many styles that were suitable for Mom's.

I got my MOB outfit at David's Bridal in Mississauga.

My mom got her outfit via Sears.ca

There is a bridal store in Ingersol on the main street, if you go into their basement, they have last years fashions at reduced prices, I saw a lot of nice outfits there (after I had bought mine)

My daughter gets married this weekend on June 18th and I'm as nervous as anything.....hoping I don't become a blubbering mess on her special day :goodvibes
