Hello everyone!

My mother lost her house (and my childhood home) to that witch of a storm Sandy; it's been a rough few months and there is sure to be a tough road ahead, as we bulldoze the old and build a new house, all while my mom is displaced. This is a big year for us - I'm also getting married in 8 months! While my fiance takes a bachelor trip to Vegas with his friends, I want to take my mom to Disney - she LOVES it, we went almost every year together when I was a kid, and let's face it - great moms deserve great things from their daughters!

I need to find something REALLY special for us to do when we're there. Last year for her 65th I surprised her and her friends with the "Wishes cruise," which was FABULOUS. She shed a few tears of joy over that surprise (which of course made me cry!,) and I'm looking for that same level of special. I was thinking of just surprising her on the trip itself, but I think she needs the excitement of having Disney to look forward to, so I need something else.

All ideas welcome!

My upcoming trip is a mother-daughter one as well! My mom, like yours, has had a rough time of it lately, for different reasons though. My mom chose Disney as our destination but I know she chose it for me, so I'm going out of my way to do special things for her to make the trip memorable.

I'm 20 and a student, so naturally pretty broke lol but I've been saving up to buy her this necklace that has our birthstones in it, and I plan to give it to her on our last night. I'm going to book the Wishes dessert party (which will be a surprise) and before or after the fireworks, I'll give her the necklace. I'd love to hear your ideas too!

That's a cute idea, I'm sure she'll love it. I've heard about the dessert parties and they sound great. Unfortunately for us, I know DM would take a pint of beer over a slice of cake any day - there's a ton of fun things Disney can send to your room (flowers, booze, toys, etc,) maybe that's another thing to consider for your mom? I would have bought the pirate's basket of beer for my mom's birthday last year, but my cousin beat me to it!

As I'm out of ideas, I'm thinking of planning a fun monorail bar crawl, or the drink around the world epic journey people take around world showcase. To me, the latter sounds very ambitious (that's me admitting that at 25, my 65 year old mother can drink me under the table...) And a bar crawl isn't particularly magical, but very fun!

I'd love to be able to go drinking with my mom at Disney! I'm of legal drinking age where I live (I'm from Canada), but still won't be 21 during our upcoming trip :(

I think drinking around the world showcase is a really good idea, it's something I've always wanted to do, and even if you don't manage to finish, you'll still have a lot of fun in the process!

Thanks for the suggestion about getting stuff sent to the room! I'll have to look into that.
