Mother/Daughter Trip Activities

Hi there! I am planning my first mother/daughter trip with my mom... very exciting! It would be me (20) and my mom. I was trying to figure out some fun activities to do inside and outside the parks that we could do to make the trip memorable. We have been to Disney World many times but want to make this one different. We are planning on going in early May. If anyone who has stories from personal mother/daughter trips or suggestions about what to do. Thank you!

Tea at GF??

I'm taking my mom too! I've been several times, she's never been. Can I even tell you how exciting it is to take someone to the World that's never been?!?

Hopefully there will be some good ideas popping up on here!

Another vote for afternoon tea at the GF!
We're also booking the Wishes dessert party for this mother/daughter trip - my mum has a sweet tooth and will feel 'special' not having to wait in all the crowds to see Wishes.
There's also the Spa's at the resorts, though I've never experienced those personally.

- Book CRT for breakfast/lunch or dinner. There is something special dining in the castle with the Princesses
- A spa morning/afternoon or day at one of the resorts. You don't need to be staying there, anyone can book.

My oldest daughter and I did a mr/dr trip for her 30th a few years ago - soooo much fun!!
We also went in early May and we spent most of one day at Epcot enjoying the Flower and Garden Show (it runs till the 19th this year) - and of course enjoying a Margarita in Mexico on Cinco de Mayo; we also did a spa afternoon at Mandara Spa at the Dolphin (the new spa at GF is now open and should be nice) Mani/Pedis would be fun - followed by tea at GF. Enjoy!

We did a mother daughter trip for Mother's Day 3 years ago. We did Wishes Dessert Party, Pre RD breakfast at CRT ( I ordered my Mom a suprise white chocolate slipper dessert). It was so fun!

You could do the pick a pearl together at Epcot in Japan and get coordinating necklaces.

I hope my daughter wants to do a mother/daughter trip when she is your age! Have fun!

If your mother and you are into the spa thing I would try a spa day! Also just anything at the GF gives off a special ambiance! My mom and I stayed there for just a night in 2004 and it was special just because it was a special place, we didn't even do anything that special! We had dinner at GFC and even though its a simple restuarant its still really nice.

As long as you both love disney though I think just spending the time doing anything together there will be memorable!

My daughter is only 7 but when she was 5 and 6 we did mother/daughter trips. We always do a princess meal. First we did Akershus and the second trip we did CRT. This time (June 2013) we are doing 1900 Park Fare. Plus we have a ritual where we MUST get a Mickey ears ice cream and sit and people watch every single day. This comes in handy when you are hot and your legs get tired from walking around the parks.

When we were at Sea World, we did the pick a pearl and made coordinating necklaces. This would be SUCH a perfect thing to do again 16 years later, on another mother/daughter trip!!! Thanks!!!

We did this a few years ago, myself, our three daughters and my sister. We didn't buy the settings at WDW though. Instead we all got matching Cinderella carriage pearl cages on ebay (much cheaper than at WDW!). Maybe you could order them ahead and bring them with you, make a little welcome basket for mom and then go do your pick a pearl while at Epcot.

Ususally it is me and my Daughter, but Mom tags along with us from time to time... Hubby can not always get off work to go so I love our girls time at WDW..

We are actually doing a trip in May also and I can not wait!

I usually take Mom to F&W at Epcot and we have the best time.....This year is Flower and Garden and that is also going to be a fun day for us..They are adding food and wine booths in several locations so it will be like a mini F&W in the spring... So Flower and Garden I think is a great idea!

I have also surprised Mom and DD with a Dessert wishes party at MK and it was wonderful!!! They loved it!!!

This upcoming trip we are also taking Mom to BOG!

There is just so much!! We also love to just hang out at DTD and eat dinner at Wolfgang puck and have Creme' Brulee for a yummy dessert....

I think the Spa sounds good too..have never done that one...Must keep it in mind!!

What every you choose you will have a wonderful time...Enjoy and take it all in! Life is too short!!!

I did a mother daughter trip this past Sept, and am doing another one this coming Sept!

I found that we just really did things the way I would have done any other trip, still met a ton of characters, watched the parade, she even ran out to dance in the Move it Shake It Celebrate it dance party parade thing!

I really did like that we had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, it was an awesome experience, and for her birthday, made it even more magical.

I found picking things that she had a liking towards made it a better experience. For example, she loves all things Africa, so I booked us in at Animal Kingdom Lodge and made sure we had lots of time to explore Animal Kingdom

A nice couple of sit down meals are awesome too, we really liked Le Cellier, and, depending on the age of your mom (my Mom's on the older side haha!) 50's Prime Time might be right up her alley? My Mom said it was just like being at her childhood home when we ate in there!

To celebrate my 30th, my mom & I did a trip to WDW. Then we did 2 more in the years after.

We laugh so much. And take lots of goofy pics. And pose with characters or anything we find random or silly. Then we laugh some more.

We don't do anything extra special...we did mini-golf a few times & that was good for laughs & pictures. We go during F&W so we try lots of foods & drinks.

I am trying to convince her we need to do a trip during the Flower & Garden, but she doesn't want to give up Food & Wine!

~ Tea at GF
~ Fantasmic Dining at Brown Derby followed by Fant! on my birthday
~ Keys To The Kingdom tour

I pre-ordered the Cinderella Slipper dessert for our Tea at GF.

DD and I have done the Wishes dessert party, tea at the GF, and pick a pearl on our girls only trips. We also did a carriage ride, because DD loves them.

I second the Keys to the Kingdom tour idea - or any tour that you would both enjoy. I've got to wait 3 more years before DD is old enough, but we can't wait until we can do some of the "backstage" tours.

Thank you all for the wonderful ideas! I'm loving all of them and will definitely keep them in mind! I'll definitely look into the tea and spa as a possibility as well as one of the tours or shows!
