Mother Compliments JetBlue

I love JetBlue when flying with my scooter they make the process smooth and easy they always tell me where to wait to board then have me bring my scooter to the door of the plane unlike Southwest that was awful they didn't say a word then yelled at me for being where I was waiting then asked if I could walk at all I said yes very slowly for a short distance then they made me walk down the ramp to the plane I said I couldn't walk that far they threatened to not let me board

I had occasion to fly two different times last year: once to Chicago on American and once to Sarasota on JetBlue. Because of a stroke I had several years ago, I have reduced vision on the left side and occasional balance issue. It makes boarding in a crowd and trying to get something in the overhead very stressful. Generally, when I fly, I'll ask if I can pre-board and explain why. My experience with American last year was that they took my boarding pass and issued me a new one so I could board "earlier" and that was there solution. The "earlier" was after business, first class, and some other group boarded first. I still ended up having to board with a crowd of people..and it wasn't very comfortable and I know I held other people up.

When we flew to Sarasota, I made the same request with JetBlue to pre-board and had no problems. By the time the crowd came on, I'd already stowed my carry on and was in my seat.

Based on that experience, even if a flight on JetBlue were more expensive, I'd still pick them over American.

JetBlue is wonderful. They've always been so accommodating and friendly, and their planes are so much more comfortable than other airlines'. I wish they flew out of our nearest airport, because it's a real pain to get to the next one over, and sometimes costs more.

JetBlue is my first pick as well. I just wish they would let all the people without stuff in the overheads get off the plane first. I never bring a honking big carryon that needs to go overhead, yet I have to wait (and sometimes get a butt in my face and conked on the head by some idiot's over-heavy bag) because I try to get an aisle seat to keep my claustrophobia at bay. I wish they had pre-departing like they have pre-boarding!

What a great idea! My DD also has to have an aisle seat. I love it when the plane isn't full and we get the middle seat empty or there are 3 of us traveling. We sit in our seats and wait so that we are the last ones off the plane. If the plane is full, we request the bulkhead and we are off the plane very quickly. If we are in the bulkhead, my DD will tell the FA that she needs to exit first. We have not had any problems. (Well, I will take that back, our last flight we did have a FA from Hades which resulted in Southwest giving us each a $75 voucher - but that is another story).

That doesn't make any sense though. It takes me 2 seconds to get my carry on down (usually my Vera Bradley weekender) as long as people aren't trying to shove past me.

I love JetBlue. For the most part they get it right. They have gotten some bad press lately so glad to see it turning around. Now if they could just get NYC to MCO flights out on time I'd be much happier. I fly the same route every other month and since January every flight has been delayed for one reason or another.

We always do that, too. I figure, somebody has to be the last ones off the plane; it might as well be us. That way, we can just focus on doing what we need to do to get off the plane without the headache of dealing with the other passengers.

As with most things, there's a spectrum. There are people like you who are quick about it, but a lot of other people who aren't.

We wait also I'm not fast at getting up or walking so instead of holding everyone up I go last

I love seeing this. My hubby is a captain for JetBlue. Ill pass this article on to him.

And tell him thank you. While I don't have a child with special needs, my mom was in a wheelchair and traveling was not fun for her. She didn't like traveling by plane because she felt like it held others up and different airlines have different views on when and how to help someone in a wheelchair onto the plane. I imagine the lady in this article felt relief and that is how my mom would have felt if her flying went as smoothly as it did for the author of the article. Kudos to JetBlue.
:cheer2:

The problem with that, though, is that everyone is trying to get their bags down at the same time, and the people in the aisle seats are right under the openings, and get crowded by somebody reaching over their heads. If people without stuff up there could get off, then there would be more room for people to reach over the aisle seat to get in the bins. And then people wouldn't be clogging the aisles with huge bags either. It's just more polite, IMO.

Polite would be doing it in an orderly fashion from front to back. Row one gets up gets their bags and gets off then row 2, row 3 and so on and so forth.

Back on topic I have seen JetBlue go above and beyond but they also have failed miserably before. It is the way they make up for it that matters most.

That really isn't workable, though, since you would have many people in window seats with no overhead luggage climbing over people in aisle seats who do in order to exit first.

Luckily, this is pretty much how it normally works, people get up, grab their bags, and head to the front a row at a time. Yes, there are a few folks that will hold up the line because they can't move as fast, and yes it would be much nicer if they recognized that they needed extra time to get on, and will need extra time to get off, and let everyone else off first.

Also, not everyone gets to put their overhead bags right over their own seats.

I too would like to say how much we like Jetblue. Ours son is autistic and flying Jetblue allows him to watch movies on the screen in the seat in front of him. I also request early boarding and that is never a problem. I love the large leather seats and having your own screen to watch tv or movies. :thumbsup2

I'm going to have to fly with you next time, because it never happens that way on any flight I've been on. Everyone gets up at once, and people hardly ever have their bags in the bin over their heads. I've seen people put stuff in the front bins, then walk all the way to the back for their seats. People are up and grabbing bags before they even get the door open, and that's when I usually get hit with a bag on the head or shoulder.

I will fly JetBlue over SouthWest (boarding chaos there!) every single time I can't avoid flying. I like having my own little tv, and the ability to have a reserved seat. I know they can change the seating if necessary, but that has never happened to me. I've always been treated with courtesy and respect by JetBlue employees, and are not surprised at all that they have a sensible policy for boarding.
