anything in the sounds dangerous ride would be better than that ride. I would guess it wouldn't fit the mosters ride, but that show or ride or whatever it is is really bad. The old show with Chevy Chase was much better. I hope they do something there.
I loved it with Chevy Chase too! Monsters would go much better in MGM!

Sticking to the Disney Studios theme isn't the space beside Sounds Dangerous open as well. I think there was a Doug show there for a while but it has been closed for quite some time now. I think those two shows share the same roof so there would be a huge amount of space there to put in a Monster Inc. ride. I agree with the poster who stated DS could use a kids dark ride.

I thought the same thing when I first saw the movie...What a great ride it would be to travel on a conveyer belt on a "door" up in the air. :)

There is a ride at King's Island outside Cincinnati that I think is called Scooby-Doo's Ghoster Coaster (or something like that) where the ride vehicle is suspended from above (you sit on it kind of like a bicycle), so it swings much like the doors do in the movie. I always figured that they would do a Monsters ride along those lines. You'd be flying through the door room, hanging onto a door, with Randall chasing you while you're trying to grab Boo or whatever. Another conveyor belt ride with cardboard cutouts from the film would be a big disappointment, IMO. And I agree that putting it in Tomorrowland would be a travesty.

Yea, after Superstar Television went out of that building, it was replaced in 1999 by the Doug show. That lasted, as I recall, 2 seasons, and after that it was used to showcase new ABC television shows. To my recollection, the shows on ABC were not very good for a few seasons, and the place has been empty ever since, probably about 4 years now.

Why does it take so long after the movie comes to develop a ride based on it?

Probably because they wait to make its a hit before they even think about developing something. Then it takes time to develope. Although, Disney has recently said they will try to develope rides along with the movies or at least shortly thereafter. The changes to POTC sort of reflect that new philosophy.

I believe Lasseter addressed this at the shareholder meeting, and said that this will change. When PIXAR films are released, the rides will come much sooner.

Also, I want to amend something I said earloer in this thread. I did hear rumors about Monsters Inc at MGM, but in the last week it seems MK is much more liekly.

I believe that the best place for a Monsters Inc attraction would be as part of any future changes to the energy pavillion in Epcot. A new version of the ride would be designed so as to showcase the energy theme. Especially if they play up the angle of trying to find more efficient sources of energy that does not cause harm (i.e. making kids laugh instead of scaring them).

It creates the possibility of having an attraction in Epcot that kids would enjoy without sacrificing the theme of the park or pavillion.

That's one of the best ideas for a character placement in Epcot I've heard.

Which means it will never happen.

And to be clear, we're talking about porting DCA's Monsters Inc. Dark ride over to MK, not create a new ride. There is no development needed. The reason It took so long to come to DCA is that nobody wanted to spend any money and when they finally realized they had to, Monsters Inc. was the cheapest option.

This is not something people should be particularly excited about. It's as interesting as the Aladdin spinner. At least it will be tucked away in a building and this avoid ruining sightlines.

There are whispers floating about that Disney is presenting this very idea to several large energy-related companies. 'Energy' is already heavily dependent on film presentations anyway - and the dinosaur figures could always find a home at the woefully underthemed 'Dinosaur' attraction at Animal Kingdom.

No bites yet, but you never know...

Not to get OT, but isn't there a rumor floating around out there that if "Cars" is successful, the Indy Speedway in DW and the Autopia in DL would be re-themed to the movie?

I don't want to put myself in the line of fire here, but what are talking about? Woefully underthemed? Are there not enough dinosaurs in there for you?

And I suppose that could be exactly wht he means, but I can only assume that. I have no information that links Lasseters comments with that rumor

I am willing to see how this Nemo thing workout first before I leap to that conclusion.

Yes, that is a great idea. Perhaps Lasseter will do something along those lines in the future, assuming of course that he even likes the original concept of EPCOT to begin with. Time will tell

I love Dinosaur. Although, I always preferred "Countdown to Extinction".

CTX/Dinosaur has always been a little cheaply done. There are large stretches of dark space where there is nothing, because they weren't given the money to fill it in. Indy over in DL has almost the same track layout and is filled to the brim with animatronics, fire, darts walls etc, etc, etc.

CTX was always a weak version of that ride.

And I like CTX too, but once you ride Indy, you'll realize what you're missing on Dinosaur.

Really? Sounds very cool. There have been rumors of Indy coming to MGM. Now I really hope that happens.

I find the AA's in Dinosaur to be fantastic. I can't imagine seeing something better would make me think less of Dinosaur, just more of Indy. But I can't say until I see it. I'm still not sure the words "woefully underthemed" applies...

Do we have to fight over everything. Man o man.

But seriously, I was only referring to the title of the ride.
