most unexpected place you found scrapbook supplies

there may already be a thread out there like this, but I have just gotten into scrapbooking and have stumbled on great deal and cool things to use at a couple of places:

stickers - the dollar-type stores have a lot of stickers (especially Disney). I have found Disney sticker sheets for $1 that I found at Michael's and Joann's for $2,3, and 4. I also found packs of flash cards for kids that were princess, Mickey, and Pooh. I used the cards for their backs as places to hide journaling behind and have used them with brads to hold other items.

all kinds of stuff I found at Big Lots - they have a whole aisle for scrapbook supplies. It is hit or miss but they had a lot of the bundled stickers for baby boy and baby girl pages as well as a lot for pets amd sports.

Dollar stores are great for holiday items that contain Disney characters you can cut out.

I know a lot of this is not made of "safe" materials but keep them away from your pictures and you have great embellishments for creative pages and areas.

Any finds you have stumbled on in unexpected places?

Tuesday Morning has a crafts section, including scrapbook supplies. They are a closeout retailer too. I was just in there last week, and got some Cropper Hopper sets regular price $30, for $7 each They had 4, I now own 4.

I was surprised to find cute things at Big Lots and Dollar Tree.

Sometimes they have really nice scrapbooks at Costco.

I've used the colored Mickey heads from the Home Depot paint department.

Got my red storage box at Lowes. But that's not really scrapbook stuff, I guess. Fancy paperclips, my label maker, and adhesive refills at Staples. Bits of ball chain (like old fashioned key chains) cut to length and snap rings at Ace Hardware. Oh, and the Build-a-bear store.

I second the Big Lots idea. I have bought 25 sheet packs of really nice cardstock for $2. I snap it up when I see it. And it is usually good brands too. It is hit or miss, but whenever I am passing by in that direction I try to swing in and check.

I've gotten stuff at Building #19 (a New England salvage type retailer), as recently as last week. Again, name brand stuff, but I really had to search through boxes of stuff to find what I bought. But it was worth it!........P

Hey Hopemax - thanks for the info on Tuesday Morning. I stopped today and they had MM 12x12 albums for 6.99, nice ones. I didn't buy any, but there was some Heidi Grace paper - reminds me of what my Big Lots used to have (but hasn't had lately).


Big Lots was my unexpected place until lately - been very disappointed there.

If anyone has a Tue Morning near them, this weeks flyer had some scrapbbok things. Some Chrsitmas, fall, Halloween. I found some paper holders that were cheap. I was pleased!!!

I found some cool stuff in my husband's tool stuff in the garage
(some distressable metal stuff and some lightweight twine stuff for tying a mini book together)
When he & DS go Boy Scout camping this weekend I'll see what else I can find.

They had a Cropper Hooper "starter" storage for $6.99. It has a bunch of project holders, a large and a small magazine type holder and other items in the bundle.
