My boyfriend and I are going to Disney in September and I'm looking for a restaurant that's a little quieter and adult oriented to make reservations for. We also haven't decided on a resort to stay at, but one that is quieter and romantic would be nice. Any suggestions? Thanks! :lovestruc

When my partner and I went to Disneyworld a few years ago, we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and we thought it was a pretty romantic place to stay. We had a room with a view of the river, and since it is a smaller resort, it felt more quiet and relaxed than some of the other resorts. We also thoroughly enjoyed eating at Jiko, which with the menu at the time (not sure if it is the same or not) was definitely geared more toward adults than children.

Resorts:
I find Port Orleans Riverside and the Polynesian are the two most romantic resorts on property. Wilderness Lodge & Animal Kingdom Lodge would be next on my list.

Restaurants:
Here are the ones I found to be the most romantic on my engagement trip and honeymoon trip:
-San Angel Inn: ask for a table by the water.
-California Grill: ask to be seated in the Wine Room
-Tony's Town Square: I know this place gets a bad rep, but we enjoyed it & found it to be very romantic
-Kona Cafe: Only been for breakfast, but we go every trip as our date meal

Hope this helps!

September is free dining time-- reservations are pretty thin on the ground-- you'd probably be more likely to get reservations at a restaurant in a resort, a more quiet one. I really like Artist Point-- it's never crowded and the food is great! Plus since it's quiet it can be a bit more romantic.

Well, the only place on property that I'm sure you won't find many, if any, children at and is super fancy is Victoria and Albert's in the Grand Floridian, but that's like $100-200 a person.

Otherwise California Grille for maybe a late dinner and view of the fireworks (might have to make reservations early because that slot probably fills up fast - although I think I read if you have an earlier dinner time, you can keep your receipt and come back to sit in the lounge to view the fireworks or go on the balcony/viewing platform).

Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge is also a fancy one with a high price range, so you might not find many children there.

Jiko looks really nice, and with the unique menu I don't think many children's palates will like it, so you might not find many there either especially for dinner.

You can take a look at all of the fine dining places at this link

Just to note, I have never eaten at any of these places as they are out of my price range  That's not to say I wouldn't like to though. I'm just thinking with the high prices, parents wouldn't want to spend that kind of money on bringing children, and I would think most would assume people eating dinner at these places would be doing it for a special or romantic reason rather than a family experience. And, the atmospheres would be more quiet and romantic than a regular-priced restaurant.

As far as quiet resorts, I think two of the most quiet are Old Key West and Saratoga Springs. They both have villas which are great for relaxing. The one bedrooms usually have a living room area, kitchen, and a huge bathtub. And I know Old Key West's has balconies.

If you're into rustic, the Fort Wilderness cabins are also pretty quiet, and there is a lot to do on the property.

Polynesian can be romantic, but keep in mind that there is construction happening there for the new Vacation Club Villas and also on the lobby area, so that might be loud and annoying to get around.

We have seen children (more than you'd think too) at all of these restaurants except Victoria and Alberts.

V&A has an age limit, I think it's 10. That said, none of the kids were a problem. Jiko is one of our absolute favorites, however as a party of 2 we were put at tables that were very close to other parties of 2 (I don't know if you've ever been to the Cheesecake Factory but kind of like that).

California Grill has way more kids than I was expecting and when we went there, a lot of parents let the kids run to the windows and all over the restaurant that was kind if irksome. Also being perfectly blunt, I don't think there's even a slim chance of getting a fireworks time reservation for CG for September, especially due to free dining. You can come back up to view the fireworks if you had an earlier reservation, but unless you stay at the CR, that's probably not all that practical.

Artist point is another of our favorites. The food is always excellent and there is plenty of space between tables so it's nice and quiet and fairly private. We have had wonderful servers there as well.

As far as resorts - we've stayed at most of the mods and deluxes and we felt the most romance at the poly, AKL, and POFQ. That's completely subjective though. We also liked wilderness lodge but with the construction through November that's probably not at the top of the list. While we didn't find it overly romantic, we really liked CSR when we stayed there as well. Good luck planning!

Poly and AKL felt the most romantic to me, and while I adore Poly for many reasons, I would recommend AKL to you because it feels more private due to the dark theming. The lighting is dimmer and it has a cozy feel to it. Jiko is a fantastic restaurant and I've enjoyed a few meals there. Poly is romantic, but also fun, in a family way, so maybe less of what you are looking for.

I love Port Orleans Riverside, it is priced well and has beautiful meandering paths for romantic walks. We always stop by the Polynesian to soak in the atmosphere as well (though maybe not during construction). I agree with what the previous poster said about San Angel. Don't laugh, but I think there is something sweet about Sci-Fi, snuggling close in a car seat watching scary movie clips....maybe for lunch ;)

Several resorts offer horse-drawn carriage rides, those are fun too.
