Most romantic city ....?

Thanks for the spelling!!! We did take the Romantic Road, but we kept getting lost , so we re-named it the Frustrating Road and found our way to the autobahn.

It's funny how people's views of "romantic" differ...we found our two favorites to be MUCH more romantic than Paris . And, nowhere near a hot island climate could ever be romantic to us.

We have never made it to Bath, although I can imagine they are amazing. I would LOVE to see them, and visit anywhere in the Cottswalds. I would think the thatched roof cottages were very romantic as well. Oh well, maybe another trip!!!

I am really sorry that you kept getting lost! I never tried to follow the Romantic Road as such, it is just that I live in this area and come across it quite regularly. I think the idea is to provide a scenic drive between the places to see. However, they should really provide proper signs so tourists do not get lost!!

Oh and if you ever go to Bath and the Cotswolds make sure to go a bit further and continue on to Corwall which is breathtakingly beautiful!!

Depends on the definition of romantic. DOes it mean the city is visually beautiful? The idea of finding out of the way spots to be alone? Is it simply getting away with the person you love?

I have been to several places in Italy, Greece and Sicily and of them all, I found Sicily's coastal line beautiful. Never have I seen water so multicolored. For me, visiting a place several times takes away the "romantic" I would have initially felt.

Prague! Such a beautiful city, although it can be packed with tourists. I want to go back to Karlovy Vary, a spa town, for a little romantic weekend (it's about 80 miles from Prague).

I should be nominating my own town, but as fab and beautiful as it is, Edinburgh weather ain't romantic!

I was really taken by St. Paul de Vence. It's a mediaval city on the french riviera. Chagall asked to be buried there, many folks go there to be married. In the summer, roses climb over the buildings and the views are stunning. The old restaurant there has many original pieces of art that were traded for food in the day. Nearby is one of MY favorite hotels, Le Clos Des Arts. If you don't fall in love here-you're not gonna.

See, now I'm going to say that this is partially untrue. And, I can prove it!!!!

I took a trip to Italy w/my Grandmother. We went to Rome, Venice, Florence, Bologna and Pisa. DH was unable to come b/c of work. When I was in Venice I longed for my husband to be w/me. I had no problems in any other city on that vaca.!!!! I never missed my DH more than when I was in Venice b/c it is truly a romantic city.

So, tell me how I could make that city "romantic" when I was w/Grandma the entire time?! I sure didn't want to get romantic w/her!!!!

For city like Vienna, how long it takes to tour the city (flea market, shopping, museums visit etc) ??

It required us at least 1 week to tour all the good places in Paris

I would say at least five days to see the major sights without running from one place to the other. Once you start taking brakes in the cafes, this will cost you a lot of time just because they are so nice! Make sure not to miss the Cafe Demel, one of the really famous ones for its traditional charme. However there is lots to see around Vienna as well, you could even combine it with a boat trip on the Danube.
