Ok guys, I have a question. I'm trying to decide what to put on my birthday/Christmas wish list, so I wanted to ask everyone what thier favorite or most prized scrapbook supply is. I've read a lot about the Xyron and CM cutting systems. I was just curious what all of you feel is your favorite and/or most used scrapbook supply. (You don't have narrow it down to one, if you don't wan to.:D )

Thanks,
Kristin

I have the xyron 850. I just bought it, but haven't really had time to use it, but I am planning on using it for vellum if I can ever get time to work on my stuff.
I LOVE the CM cutting system- Its the best thing from CM as far as i'm concerned.
I also have the sizzix. I have been building up my pieces slowly but I think its a worth while investment.

May i suggest if you don't already have one, if you go to a lot of crops, getting one of those huge rolling totes. That's is what I'm saving my money for. I have 3 totes i carry and it kills my back every time I have to lug everything out. the ones from CM run like 120, i believe.

Do you have a scrap book store near you? If so go in and see if they have a wish list! Mine does! So DH won't have any problems!
I agree with Tiggerfan6 a really big bag on wheels is a must! I have on my list the crop in style XXXlarge bag! Right now I am using the Jr and it isn't big enough and I have another big box and it is all on a suit case cart!
I would also get the CM cutting system. Love it
Do you have a good pair of sissors? I have a fiskar pair they are small and you use your whole hand to sqeeze. No little circles to stick your fingers in! They make all the difference when cutting something curvy or round!
I also love punchies! So a nice assortment of them is always nice!

Yes, the CM cutting system is great- and I also love their square punches! I like the Fiskars 12" paper cutter better than the CM alternative though.

I also am going to be in the market for a big rolling tote. I'm going to have to check out the CM one.

I LOVE my xryons. I have the 150 (the cute little orange X) and the 500. (both are just sticker makers) the X is for the small things and the 500 is about 5 inches wide. they are awesome. :D maggie

Here are a few more questions:
Which is better, the CM cutting system or the Coluzzle cutting system!

What exactly is the Xyron? I know it makes stickers, but how?? and what can be made into stickers?

Could someone post a link for the XXXLarge scrapbook tote?

Thanks
Kristin

CM vs Coluzzle - you'll get as many different answers as people you ask. I like my coluzzle because it's easy and makes lots of different sizes. CM users love the CM cutter.

the xyron is a machine that puts sticky stuff on the back of just about anything. You put the item (must be fairly flat), through the machine and it comes out with a sticky coating (which is covered with a protective paper, just like a sticker).

Crop In Style Totes

I have heard the XXL is nearly impossible to lift when it is full. Just something to bear in mind.

Doggone -- I posted a long reply but the dsl decided to drop the connection. grrrr

OK -- Reader's Digest version: Love my Coluzzles, they're def. my most prized and used tools. I could never get the hang of the CM cutting system. I just bought the new funky/folk art star and heart Coluzzles and the new alphabet. Love 'em.

The ones I use most often are the circle & oval and their companions. :)

Okay, after reading all these posts about the Xyron, I think I have my DH convinced that I need this!! LOL...It sounds so incredibly cool!!! :)

I have the CM Cutting system and the colluzzle templates and use them BOTH lots. I think the colluzzle systems has so much more variety, but can be hard to use for some. I have xyrons 150 and 510 and love them both, use the smaller (X) the most. Good luck deciding - maybe you can get it ALL!!! :D!!

For those of you with the little Xyron, do you like it? I am thinking about putting that on my list. What about the Sizzle (or whatever) die cut machine? Is it worth it??

Thanks
Kristin

The little Xyron is definitely worth it (it's only $10 *before* the coupon). It's perfect for individual letters and small die cuts.

An OTT light is a good thing to have too.

Kristin:

I just recently bought a Sizzix. Got it at Michaels with a 50% off coupon, so it was $42. I also bought a few dies (ones I figure I'll use over and over) at Mike's and Joann with 50% off coupons.

I mainly bought it to do alphabets. I got the Shadow Box letter set from someone on 2Peas for a great deal ($80 off retail), and then bought the punctuation for it at my LSS w/a 40% off coupon.

I don't think I'd ever have bought the Sizzix at full price, but with the coupons, it's a great deal, and so handy to have!

Also, that new Quickutz die cutting system is really tempting, but since you have to buy it with an alphabet and they run from $200 to $400, I can't justify it (yet! LOL).

If I were going to be on a deserted island with all the card stock ever made and could only take 3 tools, they would be my CM cutting system, hermafix repositionel dots and my really good detail scissors. I have found that with these three tools I can do just about anything. It may take longer, but it can be done.

The rest are nice to have, and I have tooo much.

And that was BEFORE I became a consultant this weekend. I have been scrapping for 3 years, and my SIL has bugged me for all three to be a consultant. I finally capitulated. But before this weekend I have bought a TON of scrapping supplies. I tried really hard to buy things other than CM when I was starting out. I thought... it is all so expensive from them. Lo and behold I have ended up buying all of their tools, and my favorite, and most used is the Cutting system. I have used others a LOT, but never quite fell in love with them.

I have thought about buying a Xyron, but I have found that the longer that I have scrapbooked - the less stickers I use. I do a lot more paper piecing, pen art, etc... and less stickers. Everyone is not like that though, and some people continue to use the stickers religiously.

Lainy,

the beauty of the Xyron is that you can make anything into a sticker - it's not really for things that came as stickers.

I find it great for punchies, or little fiddly bits of paper piecings. I also really like it for my titles - I cut the letters out, run them through the xyron and then they stick down really well. I use the repositionable adhesive, so I can just lift them up and move them if I change my mind.

I started with the X Xyron, and I liked that, but now I have a 510 I am using it more and more, it's brilliant for all kinds of things. I used it for the MK swap, to make little stickers to put on all the packs I made, much easier than trying to print onto stickers directly (and I didn't have any stickers).

LOL - Why thankyou! :teeth:

I love the Xyron's too - the pure fact that you can attach vellum and not have the glue show through makes them worth their cost alone IMO! :)

Little strips are great for attaching to cards and the Xyron just makes it so much easier.

I dont think I could Scrap without my Hermie removable dots dispenser - that is so handy and goes everywhere with me!

Also my Zig Pens - they are so useful.

Now that is the 2nd time I have seen you say that, Janice! I think I have to get one of these, they must be good! LOL

I like mine too!

A big plus is that Michaels now carries them (sorry UK friends :( )!
