Most "laid back" 2TS places?

We are planning a trip for early this December and will be getting the dining plan. There are 5 adults in our party and a baby (he'll be almost 6 months when we go). We plan to stay for eight nights, but due to flight arrival and departure time we have to use our 8TS credits to in only 7 days. From past experience we know we can only handle one sit down meal per day, which means we're going to need to do one 2TS meal.

Which 2TS non-park restaurant would you recommend, knowing that we will have the baby with us? (Leaving him in the room with a sitter is NOT an option.) We were thinking Jiko, because it is a place we'd like to try. Just thought I would check for other opinions. I'm not so worried about the menu as I am about the atmosphere ...

I would not do Jikos with a baby. I think dinner at the castle is two credits and you wouldn't be out of place with a little one. JMO. If you take the baby to Jikos be prepared to take him out if he gets loud (as babies tend to do) while your companions finish their meal.

This advice should be true for any signature restaurant. If your baby is quiet then it doesn't matter which restaurant you take him to. And if he is noisy it doesn't really matter which restaurant you are in either because the only polite thing to do at that point is to take him out of the restaurant so that others can enjoy their meal.

Jiko is a great restaurant. As for the atmosphere, it is fancier than non-signature restaurants. Couples choose it as a place for romantic or celebratory meals. It is pretty dark in some areas, while others are a bit lighter. It is the kind of restaurant where it is not out of the ordinary for guest to order a bottle of good wine.

I think the earlier you go to dinner (most open around 5:30pm), then the better off you will be. There are quite a bit of families at these restaurants during this time. I have gone w/ my 3 little ones to many signature meals & the ones that I think are the loudest are Narcossees & Flying Fish. You are in Disney World & there are very few places where a baby is not welcome (i.e. Victoria & Alberts). I just think the key here, as with a child of any age, is to be respectful of your fellow diners.

To give an example: My kids are all under age 4 & we will be visiting Jiko, Brown Derby, Narcoossees, & Flying Fish this September.

I would use the 2 credits to go to the Hoop De Doo review musical/dinner show. Everyone will love it.

I second this! Lots to see, do and eat! If anyone is having a birthday/anniversary etc be sure to tell them.

I should have posted that the baby is generally quiet ... he likes to sit in his chair and watch the world go by and loves to be talked too. He's already trying to "talk" back to us. We have successfully taken him to restaurants a number of times already (he's just over 2 months old at the moment).

We do plan on eating on the earlier side (5-6ish). And of course, if he got fussy, one of us would take him for a walk outside the restaurant.

We thought about Hoop Dee Doo, but decided against it for the very reason that someone might have to "take a break" from the show to walk with the baby. Plus, we thought it might be too loud for him. We've already done SoA, so that's out too.

Stick with your original choice-Jiko. We've seen kids around that age in there lots of times. The dinner itself seems primarily for the adults, and Jiko is a nice restaurant.
