Most expensive Disney trip

Last year we spent $1500 for 5 days. (Airfare, 4 nights at POP, 3 day park hoppers for 3 people, food, souvenirs). I guess that's a bargain, huh? My goodness....

We're currently planning a Fairy Tale Wedding. We're trying to stay under our budget of $20,000. It's not looking good. :rolleyes1

okay wow I just added all my expenses for the upcoming trip up and oh my goodness... I didn't realize we were spending this much money...I'm usually a budget minded girl but this is my college graduation trip with dbf so I guess we decided to splurge a little, i'm gonna justify these costs by saying we didn't go on vacation last year so if we had we would have done a budget trip last year and this year...now for the breakdown...

Room-15 nights/16 days at OKW studio-$2290
Airfare (2 People) -$440
Park Tickets (2 People) - $515
Dining (Plan plus extra money) -$1600
Misc Expenses (Tour, Fishing, etc) -$1200
Souvie Money -$500
Car Rental - $265

Grand Total...$6810...okay no one tell dbf this is how much we are spending!!! lol paying little by little makes it seem not so bad...

Well, we have lucked out most of the time, doing trips with my parents. However, on one trip that was funded by my parents, my DW and I found a way to spend $13,500. We bought 170 pts in DVC. Last year we added another 50 pts at $4900.

All of the rest of our trips have been very reasonable now with the DVC. Definitely one of the best purchases we ever made.

P.S. Hey DisneyGirl83. Another DISer from West Orange, NJ :thumbsup2

Was the most so far. We ended up spending about $7500 and that is with accomodations paid for. We now average about $4500-5000 per trip. This next trip in December will be our last for a while. DD starts college and I want to spend my hard earned vacation funds in the South Pacific (Tahiti, Fiji, Cooks)!

I think it is typically not a wise thing to add up your trip costs! ;)

Our trip in August SO FAR is costing us $3300 for room (9 nts. at AKL), 8 day park passes and dining plan.
Magical Express - FREE!
Airfare - 3 RT tickets on American $753
TS meals in excess of the plan credits - $250 (approximately)

I bet by the time we add in souvenirs and other piddly crap we will come in around $4700. Oh, and we are upgrading to APs for DS and I, so add another $400 or so for that... :rolleyes2

Our total is $6500. We are taking the grandparents, so four adults and three kids (one is under 3 though). This is for 10 nights at POR with two rooms and the dining plan. I think we did pretty well considering the two rooms and dining. Usually we luck out and the grandparents pay OUR way for vacations, so this is our treat. In the future, we'll be closer to $3000 for our immediate family and a value hotel (or so I tell DH!). :rotfl2:

Our last trip was about $7,000:

Airline tickets for 4 - 750
Universal tickets for 4 - 500 (1 annual pass)
Universal hotel - $1000 (four nights, AP discount at Portofino)
WDW hotel (BW rented points for 8 nights) - $1400
WDW tickets - ('free' in 2005 since had 4 annual passes from year before) - 0
Food - $1700 (used DDE - saved us a fair amount)
car - $500
souveniers - $750
miscellaneous - $500 (film, soda, gas, etc...)

Year before was about $13,000 since we needed to buy annual passes and we went to WDW twice.

This year - about $7,500 again.

We spend far too much money on WDW vacations.

I'm not going to tell......8 airline tickets, 2 rooms concierge lagoon view YC for 7 nights, 3 nights AKL Presidential Suite, tickets for 7 people for 10 days, 1 AP, 1 DDE card, Grand One yacht cruise, Breathless cruise, Mickey Mouse meet-n-greet, parasailing, sunset safari, sunrise safari, food for 11 days for 8 people (all TS's)........don't want to think about it. :sad2:

My first trip in Dec. 2001 was my most expensive. Even though we only stayed at ASM for 6 nights it ended up costing me a lot. While there we all became very ill with disney fever and now we have to spend more money to go back every 12-18 mos. for treatment. The sad thing is we are still contagious and have spread the disease to many of our friends. So, be sure to use hand cleaner while you are there!

By far, our most expensive trip was the one where we bought our first DVC contract. Second on the list was the trip where we signed papers for our add on....

But when I look towards our next trip and realize that lodging alone would be $6818.17 if we paid cash and rack rate (which would NEVER happen, btw!) instead of points, I suddenly feel much better about that DVC investment.

To the poster that mentioned Visa rewards points...do you mind telling me how that works. I've looked at getting that Visa, but couldn't get any real specifics about that. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread...just curious. :confused3

Hi Tikigoddess,

Not sure exactly what you are asking so here is a brief explaination. With the visa you get 1 point per $100 charged. Not a great rate but we liked the idea of dedicated rewards (sort of like frequent flyer or hilton honors vs. a cash back card). We have put every possible expenditure on our card (utility bills, food, gas, other travel, xmas shopping, dining out, DD's braces, car expenses etc...) so over 2 plus years we have accumulated just over 1000 points. Before we go to WDW we will have the points in our acc. transferred onto a rewards card which we can present at WDW. It can be used in restaurants, shops and at the resort. Last time we presented our card at check in and applied rewards to our resort balance.

Hope that helps you out.

The most we spent was about $7,000.00. That was last September. We spent 9 nights at the WL. Some things that made it expensive was that we did the Keys to the Kingdom tour, the segway tour, and the backstage safari tour. We also saw La Nouba for the first time!

Our most recent trip in December was about $6000 for the two of us - BWI concierge deluxe room, Illuminations cruise, two fishing excursions, Wildlife Discovery tour (did it twice - we really enjoyed it), 2 CP packages, Artist Point, Brown Derby (and I bought lots and lots of antenna toppers!) It was fantastic!

Each trip gets more and more expensive. Those darn deluxe resorts! This trip, two adults, YC, Premium Plan, $5500 w/o the airfare ...

:rotfl2: :rotfl: too funny!

For our July trip we are spending a total of $5,000 for 6 of us. We have 3 birthdays to celebrate at WDW including the 50th Celebration of DL!

Thanks to Mk losing power xmas day. We had nothing else to do so we did DVC tour and thought it was a good deal so we purchased it. But not including this. The most was $4000

:cloud9: We opt to spend less and go more. Our total bill with 7 nights at ASM, plane tickets, park tickets, car, food and mis money is $2500. That is for three of us. We try to make it to Disney every year. We usually stay at Shades of Green with my parents, but this year it will be the all stars. We have stayed at deluxe, moderate and value resorts.

Princess Kayley 4 princess: Baby on the way :cheer2:

Our honeymoon was pretty expensive for only being there a few days. I don't know exaclt how much but we definitely splurged. My parents gift to us was our accomodations which was 3 nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge with a Safari view. Plus we had some expensive meals like the one at California Grill.
...But other than that trip, we're pretty moderate. :teeth:

Ironically, our most expensive Disney trip was paid for mostly by Disney (we paid what we would've paid for a cruise in the off season). Our cruise was canceled back in 2002 or 2003 due to the Norwalk virus spreading its ugly head. You had two options, you could either reschedule your cruise...

OR you could take a length of stay (up to 9 days) all meals, tickets, hotels, snacks, and even souveniers paid for by Disney and half off your next Disney cruise (within the next year). We were put up at the Swan (which I surprisingly really liked and was quite a different feel, but good to experience) and ate at every resturant in Disney we've ever even THOUGHT about eating at. We were constantly getting special treatment once they saw that we were on a "canceled cruise." When we got home we totalled about how much it would've cost us, with the massages we had, the boats we rented, the golf, the cruises we took, the dinners we ate...And it would've been around $8000...

Best Disney trip yet without a doubt. :thumbsup2
