most effective way to handle poor mail service

I'm sure DISers have faced and handled this, but I am so ticked. Neighbor just dropped off my new MasterCard. We have a central mail box every half a block or so... 16 boxes per.

This is what I plan to send to the postmaster. Has anyone else sought to improve their mail service?

I am writing to ensure that you know the mail service in my neighborhood has deteriorated in the last few months. Once a week I am re-delivering mail to my neighbors. The last straw was today when a neighbor dropped off my new credit card.

Please let me know how you plan to reduce the number of incorrect deliveries.

The post office has a standard complaint for. On it are boxes to check about poor service. I don't think it does any good though.

When my neighbors house was up for sale, relators and the such were always parking in front of our house. If the mail guy couldn't keep driving in a straight line, even if the mailbox itself wasn't blocked, he would just skip our house. Still does it to this day if anyone parks in front of our house. It's not even us. :headache: Lord help us if anyone on the street is having a garage sale.

Our post office is terrible and always has been. We have a PO box because our choices for installing a mail box for home delivery are 1. In a city park across the street from our house, and 2. across a highway from our house. Heaven forbid they pull in the driveway! And we are in the city limits.

On top of that, we have been turned into the collection agency twice for medical bills that we never received..... and it took three weeks for a lawn boy part for our mower to travel from Houston to southern Iowa.... I could go on and on.

Good luck, but I have a feeling your complaints won't do any good. I know ours haven't!!! :headache:

I hate our mailman. He is getting better though. I have asked for our old mailman back to no avail. I tell them my complaints, I dont even tell them about the misdirected mail, I just throw it back into the mailbox. My biggest complaint is that he usually never redelivers the mail after our disney trip when I fill in the correct date, etc. etc. All they say is would you like to fill out a complaint form, I said, really what good would that do, they even joked with me once and said, oh I guess he cant read the date, you should just have called and we would deliver your mail etc. I said I want my mail now etc. Good luck. This guy doesnt get a christmas gift from us either.

Our mail often doesn't get delivered until after 6, and sometimes it doesn't get delivered at all for 2 days in a row.

We've all attempted to complain to USPS but nothing ever happens. We've gotten used to the mail coming late or not at all. It's a sad way to live.

I can't stand our mailman either. We have a slot in our front door for mail and he's really good at shoving everything through at once so my magazine covers normally are ripped off. If it's a little snowy on the porch, we don't get mail that day. He also mangages to open the slot cover in such a way that it won't go back down and the cold air comes whistling through. I can't figure out how he does it and have to get my DH to fix it.
We received a survey to fill out with our satisfaction level and comments and I tried to address my concerns in a polite way. After that it got even worse, I think on purpose.
