Most cruises you've ever taken in a single year?

I found a great deal on RCCL for next spring break. (Only reasons we're not sailing DCL is we will have just sailed a few mos. before, and we want to try a nonDisney itinerary.) We also have DCL booked for late AUG 2006. I'm torn. DH and I have always wanted to try this Southern caribbean itinerary, and the price is right. I absolutely, positively, don't want to sacrifice either of the DCL trips. I've wondered in we'll be 'cruised out?' (DCL got our family hooked on cruising, LOL! It will always be our favorite line, and hopefully, we'll continue to do one DCL per year.)

Have anyone here ever 'burnt out' on cruising? Or is one trip as fun or almost as fun as the other?

Share your reasons why! :earsgirl:

I have been on 2 cruises (DCL & RCCL) so far this year and have 1 more to go! The last two were/are work related-escorting a group. The 1st two were very stressful because they were only 3 weeks apart. The next cruise is in September and I am looking very much foward to it!

Can't get enough time away from the office! :teeth:

The only downfall is that the 1st two cruises were so close together. Other than that, I had a great time on both and was able to visit 5 different islands in one month!

I say as long as you have different itineraries, go for it. Enjoy life now!

In one 12 month period I had taken 4 DCL cruises....

8/02 - 7 day Western
01/03 - 7 day Western
05/03 - 7 day Eastern
9/03 - 3-day Wonder

This year so far we took a 3-day in January, we just got back from an 8-night Carnival cruise this weekend and I am going on the 2 week August repo next month which will be DCL cruise #14 in total!!!

I never get burned out from cruising!!!

The most I've done in a calendar year is 3 7 day cruises. I really haven't counted 12 months not in a year.

No, I don't get tired of cruising. It is my favorite vacation. Our number 13 on the Magic will be the August repo cruise. We've done other lines, but in my opinion, nothing compared to DCL.

Mmouse37....how was the Carnival cruise and where did you go? Did you like it?

Just 1 a year for this family but I am seriously considering a 4 or 3day within the next winter season.................... :goodvibes

I am jealous!!

The most I have done is 2 in a year.

I got hooked on DCL cruising with my first cruise (3-night Bahamas) in March of this year. I enjoyed it so much that when I got back home I booked the same cruise for June and invited my two sisters, brother-in-law and niece to join me. My third cruise this year was an RCI cruise to the Bahamas over the 4th of July weekend. It's not that I'm crazy about Nassau, I just wanted to compare the two cruise lines over the same route (glad I did, it confirmed my feelings that DCL is the best!).

My fourth cruise this year will be the Magic's 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise on 3 Sept (assuming I don't get "hurricaned" :umbrella: ). Number 5 will be Magic's 7-night Western Caribbean cruise on 31 December (I booked it on-line and hope to rebook it during the Sept cruise to get the price break and on-board credit).

I'm not even close to being burned out on cruising this year. I'd go every month if I had the vacation time and money to do it.

Hope you go for it and thoroughly enjoy yourself! I was disappointed with the Royal Caribbean cruise, but I think it's because I've been spoiled with DCL! :cool1:

We did 3 in one 12 month period 10/02-10/03...we never get burnt out on cruising DCL....if I had the time off from work and the kids could have time off from school, we'd go every month.....

I have cruised 8 times and my 9th one will be on Disney in Oct. It will be our first disney cruise!!! We like Princess and RCCL but have also been on Celebrity and Carnival. I here the best is yet to come :Pinkbounc

We went on 3 DCL within 16 months-7 night Eastern, 4 night and the Inaugural 7 night Western. After that DH was "all cruised out" and said no every time I mentioned another cruise vacation. Our last cruise was 3 1/2 years ago. DH agreed to go on another DCL 7 night Western this Nov. I'm hoping he'll agree to another cruise for our 15th anniversary in 2 years, but we may try RCCL mega ships instead.

I wish that we could do more than one cruise a year.

Well, this isn't our 'typical' vacation year, LOL! Turns out we had the FF miles we could cash in, and are making up for lost time as we didn't do a spring break vacation last year. I don't think we'll do three cruises every year. (Unless some one supplies us with the winning Texas lotto numbers. :rotfl2: )

I wish I could shake our money tree more than once every two years, but alas, that is what we can afford. :confused3 Now that the DSs count as 'adults' we are happy to be able to go that often.

Now if I hit the Big Jackpot in the LOTTO, I'd be like the DISer that said that they would go every month. Well, perhaps I'd alternate months with WDW and DL.

We can dream. Our NYE 2007 Magical cruise will be here before we know it. :sunny:

I don't complain...I can dream though, right? ;)

Mmouse37....how was the Carnival cruise and where did you go? Did you like it?

Our Carnival cruise was really great....after cruising DCL 13 times I did not want to compare, but of course I did. It was an 8 night cruise out of NYC and we had 3 ports...San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortola. The ship was the Legend and it was very nice.

Our course they are two different ships completely, but Carnival did do a great job....the food was wonderful, the public spaces beautiful, though a bit over the top in decor, the breakfast buffet area on Deck 9 was huge with plenty of seating and multiple buffet lines. There were 3 pools with an adult only pool that was strictly enforced...many loungers available all over. A huge twisty slide that anyone could go on. The things I found lacking were the shows....we only enjoyed one of the production shows in the show theatre. Plenty of nighlife...our kids (17, 20, 21 loved this part of the cruise.) On DCL everything pretty much shuts down at midnight....on Carnival all the clubs/lounges (and there are many) were hopping into the wee hours. They did lots of dancing on this cruise and there many their own ages. My sister has younger kids and her kid enjoyed the kids clubs.

We had two formal nights, one with a Captains cocktail party and 95% of the ship was very dressed up on both nights. We never saw any drunken fools as many associate with the older Carnival product. There was a huge span of ages....from infants to Grand Parents. We travelled with a group of 37 and had a ball. There were many large family groups onboard.

The cabins were very spacious with lots of storage space...3 tall side by side closets, two for hanging things, one with shelves. The bathrooms were very functional and they provide a goody basket of razors, toothpaste, floss and some other things. We had a balcony cabin and paid just under $1,400 per person for two in the cabin and were upgraded to a higher deck balcony cabin (Deck 7). The kids had inside rooms and were upgraded to obstructed ocean view. My son and his cousin wound up with a handicapped room that was huge!!

Of course no one can compare to DCL's superior level of service but we did not have any issues that would keep us from cruising Carnival again....except one crew member was rude and I promptly took his name down and listed it on the comment card....besides that it was a great vacation.

It was so very convenient leaving from NYC.....we live only 30 minutes from the ship and hired a charter bus to take us all to and from the terminal. I do have to say that the embarkation and debarktion process on all other lines but DCL are very chaotic....DCL has it down to a science!!!

I will post pics later today.....

Thanks Mmouse37.. I really liked our DCL cruise and it was our first, but we could never afford to do it all the time, so I was thinking Carnival would be cheaper, but heard bad things about it. I know I would compare it to DCL too, but I'd rather be able to cruise more often so I appreciate your input on your experience. Sounds like you had a great time at a real affordable price too!

Our first two DCL cruises were 7 months apart--booked a 7 night as surprise for DW's 40th while on board the 4 night that my late DMIL took the entire extended family on. The neat thing was getting on board and knowing our way around and feeling "at home" (identical deck plans on the two ships makes this such a help, as DS learned his way around, too.)

Then this year we did 4 night and 7 night cruises w/i 11 weeks of each other. The 7 nighter, coming in April, was booked in '03 when rates came out for '05, but the January 16th Wonder was added 60 days in advance to "replace" a WDW trip that was cancelled because of complications with the extended family members who could not make it (and the SOG reservations required my sister, the section base chief at Ft. Monmouth, and she was the one who couldn't make it, so we were SOL, too.). Again, fun to be on again and feel so at home, and familiar, and the entusiasm of DS in telling everyone, starting with the CM's who direct you through traffic checkin, that "we were just here in January!".

'06 will have a RCCL cruise w/ the friends who invited us along on our first ever cruise, and then 8 months later our 5th DCL cruise, w/ DS, for a Western double dip. And then I expect we will be pretty cruised out for a while...

But if my Roth, 401(k), and Rollover IRA accounts all do what they are supposed to do, I hope to have multiple cruises in a given year again beginning in 20-25 years.

Three in one year! Whew, And, that was too much for me. I am more comfortable with no more than two a year. :0)

Mmketeer next cruises: RCCL/SOS 12/05 & DCL/Wonder 2/06

Howdy -

So far this year we've done one Carnival (Legend) and the May DCL repo. My response - we like it soooo much we are returning on the Aug repo cruise. Personally, I have yet to get tired of cruising, especially DCL. Aug will be our 6th DCL cruise(in a 3 yr period). We love the DCL service and my 6yo ds loves the Oceaneer's club (I doubt any other cruise line can meet let alone beat the Disney kid's programs).

We had a great time on Carnival, but like many others found ourselves comparing it to DCL. I liked the lunch time offerings better than DCL but the service paled in comparison. I never knew who serviced our room. Carnival includes the tip automatically rather than leave it to your discretion - perhaps this impacts the level of service.

WE ARE DCL junkies!!!!!
