Are mossies a problem in Florida? We're staying Kissimee for 2 weeks in August - is it wirth buying any spray/wipes before we go?

Thanks!

Hi there

Yes I would definately stock up on spray/wipes/cream. My husband always seems to attract the mossies, but thankfully me and the kids don't have this problem. Unfortunately during the evening especially if you are near water the mossies seem to appear. Hope this helps.

Apparently Avon s skin-so soft woodland fresh range is as effective as any chemical brand and hopefully a bit nicer to wear .Or if you like marmite have it for breakfast as the mozzies hate it -but not as much as I do!

Definitely take some repellant. If your DH is a natural target for mozzies, then he should be prepared!

They are more prevelant after rain and around water (there are lots of waterways, lakes, etc. around Kissimmee) and in the still evening air. You'll probably be too hot in August to want to cover up, so repellant is a good idea.

I've never been bothered by mossies during August. If you are concerned about being bitten you should buy spray which is proven to work - essentially something which contains DEET. You can but this in Boots and other pharmacists as well as travel shops.

Regards

Rob
