Mosquitos

We are leaving on Sunday, do I need insect repellent. Are there mosquitos at this time of year?

All year round is mosquito season in Hawaii. It all depends where your excursions take you. I've never had a mosquito bite when I've been in any of the beach areas. But, step one toe into a jungle area and it's a different story! In my experience of being bit in California, Colorado, Ohio, Illinois and Florida, none of these bites compare to the itchiness of the Hawaiian Flying Pterodactyl Mosquito (they seem pretty big to me)! So if you're going to any areas like that, I would bring repellent.

We just got back from Aulani last week and never noticed any mosquito at the resort.

We used insect repellent. We had a first floor patio and had upper veranda for a couple days. Mosquitos at both. I had a horrible mosquito attack last trip on sixth floor patio in early morning (bites all over my legs.... ).

I thought the Dengue fears are limited to the Big Island.

Just got home - had a high floor- ate outside in the evenings- not one bite.
