Morning Sickness ?

Okay, this may sound like a strange question. We have a trip booked for June. I really want to take one more 'family trip' with my husbands kids before we start working on more kids. But the funny thing is, I am planning on working on more kids around the DW trip. So my question is, how pregnant would I have to be before I would feel it? For example, if our trip is the last week of June would I be alright if I got pregnant the last week of May? I guess not just the sickness, but the tiredness and everything else that goes along with being pregnant. Both of the kids really want a baby but I know that they don't understand the full implications of this. For this reason, it's very important to me to not have our DW trip affected by a pregnancy. At the same time, I am very anxious to start working on a baby and moving the trip is not an option. I'm going to do whatever is in the best interest of the children, I'm just wondering.

I've heard that it doesn't "typically" kick in until 7 weeks but mine was like clockwork from week 5 through week 12.

I felt crappy from conception with all 4 of mine. It did let up in the middle trimester and the last trimester was torture with the last 2, but that's partly "maternal age" (I was 30 and 32) and that 2 of the last 3 were 9 1/2 pounders.

If I had a trip to WDW set in stone with kids involved, I wouldn't be trying to get preggers. You can't exactly pencil it in your daytimer. There's always the possibility of a miscarriage or complications that could land you on bedrest, even in the early stages. It's just not something I'd risk if I had a trip planned.

I think I started feeling it at about 15 minutes after conception! Honestly, I vomitted so much that there was blood in it from the acid eating away at my throat. I am not trying to scare you because it doesn't happen to many women that bad, but you never know so I would def. not plan on being 5 weeks preg. for a June (hotter than hello!) DW trip.

On the bright side..... in the 4 years between my two dd's there were incredible advancements in meds that can help with the upset pregnancy tummy!

Good luck. How sweet of you to want to have a last special trip with your steps before you add a new baby! Of course then you can have many more special trips all together!

With DD, I didn't even know I was pregnant until 5.5 weeks. For some reason the tests were negative. My LMP was June 2, and I didn't find out until July 13. I started to feel it July 17. Hope that helps!

with pregnancy number 1 (dd) i spotted from day one for the entire first trimester -so traveling (and lots of walking or amusement park rides) was no way an option for me.

with pregnancy number 2 (ds) i had nausea and acid indigestion from day one for the entire first trimester. the smell of anything cooking made me ill-so i can't imagine what being at wdw would be like.

if you are going to be 'working on it' and there's ANY chance you might be pregnant when you go, unless your private health insurance covers you in florida-get travel insurance NOW. that way if you needed med care at wdw it would'nt be excluded as a pre-existing condition.

i went to disneyland at 6 months pg. -did'nt ride allot of the 'heavy duty' rides-but found it not too bad (if nothing else-you get tons of photos of the characters 'patting' your tummy :teeth: ).

I didn't have any morning sickness at all. I just felt like I was coming down with the flu (achy, not feeling right) and took a pregnancy test the first day of missed period. Three tests later (I couldn't believe it!), it finally sunk in. We went to WDW when I was around 8 weeks along. Not what we planned, so we had to change how we toured - but had a wonderful time. I would NEVER go when pregnant again though - that's just me. I was exhausted.

Best of luck to you! :thumbsup2

I personally would do anything to avoid being on vacation while in early pregnancy. I was soooo sick (don't even want to think about it!) from very early on...I would say 3 weeks calculating from when DD was born. It got a bit better after 5 months.

That is VERY subjective. Some women feel completely okay their entire pregnancy, and others are nauseous until the day they deliver. If you have never experienced pregnancy I would not recommend becoming pregnant right before your trip. More women experience MS/fatigue than not. I personally never threw up but was nauseous and had a burning stomach for months. I was also very tired but insomniac at the same time.

Well i have 3 daughters and with my first 2 i was so nauseous and had the worst heartburn from about 5 weeks until about 16-17 weeks(fatigue was bad w/#2)..my third nothing at all...
I went to WDW PG with all 3 both early on and later in PG...i never had any problems, i just took it easy and made sure i rested (stop and sit and put your feet up for a while, or go back to the resort for a nap), and drank a TON of water.
Every woman is different and every PG is different, i really don't think you can make a decision based on what others say about this...i think you would really have to wait and see how you feel at the time, if indeed you do become PG before then.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do and good luck with trying to conceive!!!!

I got pregnant around Halloween and started morning sickness a couple of days before Thanksgiving. It lasted until I delivered. I was very happy to have it since I had miscarried twice before and I knew this one was a keeper. I weighed about the same the day I delivered as the day I found out I was pregnant. I couldn't keep much of anything down the entire time, except for Jello, hardboiled eggs and a few other things.

I started getting morning sickness at week 5 (two days after my pregnancy was confirmed) and lasted until week 16. In fact, it went away right before we went to WDW at the end of my 16th week! I couldn't imagine going to WDW with the morning sickness that I had, it was really bad. So, if you still want to make a trip and you are pregnant, try going in the beginning of the second trimester- my doctor said that is the best time to go because morning sickness is usually gone by then, but you are not big enough yet to be really uncomfortable. It was ok when I went, I felt fine physically by then, but I did miss going on the big rides. That is why we are taking a trip in May- like you, we are trying to get a trip in before we start working on baby #2!

Good luck to you!

I went at the end of my 2nd trimester w/ baby #2.
#1 was 3 at the time. I wasn't sick but was really tired and ds wanted me to carry him a lot. I wasn't able to go on the safari ride at AK, it was brand new then and was really looking forward to it. It really wasn't that bouncy but the sign said No preggers allowed so I didn't. There were a lot of other things I couldn't do or go on too though it wasn't so bad since ds was only 3 and was too short for a lot of rides.
If given the chance to plan ahead like you are, I would say go to WDW, then get pregnant. The older kids will have great memories of you having a blast right along with them! :thumbsup2

I went to Disney 2 weeks after conception. I didn't even know I was pregnant at the time. However, I was exhausted and blamed it on a day at the parks. I was nauseous quite often and blamed it on the tea cups one day and Mission Space the next. All of the food repulsed me but I blamed it on the fact that my diet wasn't the same as it was at home.

I didn't even find out I was pregnant until a few days after we got home and suddenly it all made a lot more sense.

With that being said, I never had ANY symptoms or discomfort after that. I don't think I would have even noticed those symptoms at home, but pushing myself through a Disney vacation seemed really hard.

It's a tough call.

Even if you are feeling great pregnancy wise you will be dealing with some real heat and also won't be able to do a heck of a lot in terms of rides. I would mostly be concerned with being tired.

HOWEVER, look at it this way...your WORST case scenerio is that you get pregnant and spend the week poolside in Disney. Better than working ;)

Lots of luck!

I went to disney when i was 8 weeks pregnant with my second daughter. Now I have to say, that I loved being pregnant. I did get morning sickness but mine was just a tiny queasy stomache (kind of like a hangover) and it wasnt that bad. I had a great time at disney and flying also, my doctor said that it was alright to take dramamine, I didnt on the way down and felt bad, on the way back I took it and felt great! My first pregnancy was a piece of cake though, no sickness at all. It is all how your body will react, everyone is different, some friends i know have had great pregnancies and some have had horrible pregnancies. Dont let it stop you from your trip, and besides you never know how long it will take to get pregnant!

Good point. We have 2 kids. We had an early miscarriage with a first pregnancy; we'd been trying about 6 months. But luckily for our sanity, we conceived our son at the earliest possible time after the miscarriage, on the first try. For our second child, we tried 2 or 3 times, but I know it wasn't the very first time we tried.

So what I'm saying is, out of three pregnancies we succeeded in conceiving on the "first try" only once.

My MIL has had very little sage advice for us, but one thing she said always sticks with me. We were married 8 years before we started trying. Even then, we both weren't sure if it was the "right time." My MIL, mom of 3, told us that if we wait for the "right time" then we'll never have kids.

i started my 2nd trimester the week we arrived. I was sooooo sick before then. Other than being a little tired, I had a great trip! I was able to use that excuse "eating for two"! It was great!
:thumbsup2
Good luck!
