Hi--I'm 15 week pregnant, we're leaving for WDW next week when I'll be 16 weeks along. I've had some really bad morning sickness the whole pregnancy, but everyone kept assuring me by the time my trip came around it would be over. Well, it's not and now I'm getting nervous that we're one week away from our trip and I'm still throwing up! Has anyone been to WDW during extreme morning sickness? I guess I'll just take some barf bags with me and hope for the best. Does anyone have any tips on how to get through this?

Thanks!

congrats on the baby!

What helped me was eat a lot of small meals, snacks. I would usually find 1 thing(different for each pg) that would make me feel good. One it was pretzles, another it was lemonheads.

Make sure you stay hydrated. It will be warm.

Have fun!

Ask your doc to order Zofran. I had horrible, horrible all day nausea/sickness with both of my pregnancies. With the second, my new doc gave me Zofran, and it was amazing. One pill a day worked for me, and I could function/eat/live life. There was even a lapse in coverage since they would only allow a certain number of days, and it took my doc a week to get it sorted out--during that time, I paid $15 or $20 for each generic pill just to be able to have it.

I'm going to second the Zofran.. and definitely bring some barf bags. :thumbsup2

Hopefully you'll wake up one morning this week and be nausea-free.

I didn't go to Disney during it, but I had HORRIBLE morning sickness this time around, and it lasted til about 19 weeks. It was all day, every day. At about 15 weeks, I broke down and asked my midwife if there was something I could take (I hate taking things anytime, but especially while pregnant or nursing). She told me to take vitamin B6 and half of a Unisom before bed each night. It was like a miracle worker! It took two days, but I could eat food again and keep it down! I still felt a little sick, but nothing compared to how I was! I've heard of people taking it in higher doses, but I'm cautious. I took it for a couple of weeks. Maybe that could take a bit of the edge off for you?

Eat several smaller meals through the day, and do NOT let your stomach get empty. Eat before you were hungry.

With DS1, I was sick several times a day, every day, for the first 6 months. By the time I realized I was hungry, it was too late.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the tips. I am taking Zofran, and at first it helped a lot, but it seems to have worn off on me. And you're right--the minute I feel hungry, it's too late to eat anything!

Hopefully the morning sickness will start to ease off and disappear soon. At about 15 weeks the morning sickness started to ease up for me and at 16 weeks it pretty much gone. I do still get nausea if I don't eat regularly so make sure you don't wait to eat. If Zofran is not working anymore ask your Dr about changing the dose or another med. I hope you feel better soon and have a wonderful trip to disney.

I am so sorry that you are still experiencing morning sickness! I had 24/7 nausea with both of my pregnancies - it was worse when I was carrying the twins so I can sympathize. I know you are taking zofran and you have probably tried all of the usual suggestions to ward off morning sickness. However, I will share 2 things that helped me - Preggy Pops/Drops and "real" ginger ale (only certain brands are made with real ginger - I think Polar was one). Anyway, if you haven't tried either of these, it's worth a shot!

One other practical point is that I used to carry ziploc bags with me for "barf bags" when I traveled - seals the contents...and the smell until I could dispose of it. Sorry, I know that's kinda gross!!

I hope that you start to feel better before your trip - it is possible! When I was carrying the twins, my morning sickness did last into the second trimester but I started feeling better right around the point you're at. Hope you have a good trip...and a happy & healthy pregnancy!

While I've not been pregnant in the parks ... here's what I did during both of my pregnancies to get through the terrible, terrible morning sickness.

I changed the time of day I took my prenatal during my 2nd pregnancy (it worked for me).
I ate some cheese and crackers at bedtime (and if I got up for a midnight bio, I'd eat some more).
I increased my fluid intake on bad days.
Everytime I passed the kitchen, I'd grab a bite of something (a couple of crackers, a slice of cheese, a pickle, toast, whatever). Sure, it felt like I was always eating, but it kept something on my tummy - and since it was small stuff, I was still free to enjoy my meals.

Perhaps something above may help with your situation ... but I have my fingers crossed that it will ease up any day and you'll have posted for nothing! Hope you have a wonderful trip!!
